Sleep

I'm new to the community.  I'm trying to quit vicodin.  I'm tapering off, down to 2 pills a day/ one half pill at a time.  I can't sleep,  my doctor perscribed ambien cr 12.5 mg 6 monthe ago.  (I've kept my addiction hidden from him)  Seems the ambien doesn't work any more.  I'm trying not to use it.  Could the ambien be making harder to get off the vics also?

I do not want restless legs, I hated that when I went throug withdrawl.  I used to take benadryl, but I'm in NA and your only supposed to take medicine for what it's for.  Benadryl is for allergies.  I'm trying to teach myself how to sleep naturally again.  Some days are better than others, last night sucked. :)  Be careful what you wish for mary!  jk!

Your support is wonderful! I'm hoping to be free by Christmas.  I feel pretty good this morning, like the grip is losening.  You guys are such a great help! Thankyou.  Gotta go to work now but will be back later.

Again, thanks for responding!

Have you tried Benedryl.  I found that Tylenol Pm etc.. gave me restless legs. Benedryl seemed to work better for me.  It really stinks when ya cant't sleep.  I am in menapause and that causes me to sleep in shifts.  I wake up at 12 or 1 and I'm ready to go to work. Then by morning I'm exhausted. Sometimes I wish someone would just hit me over the head and knock me out. lol

I haven't taken vicodin in 30 days, and I still can't sleep!  Tylenol PM and Advil PM could help.  Do you have a date when you'll be free of pills set yet?    I wish I could just sleep for like 15 hours or something, I used to be soooo gooood at sleeping!

My opinion, ambien is no good. It is addictive also. Maybe try some more natural things ...melatonin ,valerian root.  It might take a while for your body to re-adjust after you stop the ambien and vic's.  One of the withdrawl symtoms is not sleeping and not sleeping is a horrible feeling.  Hang in there. Best of luck.

I've taken Ambien once and it kept me up all night, so I'm no help in that department, but good for you in knowing it's time to taper and best of luck.  Try to read or post daily while you're tapering and/or going through withdrawals, it really helps to have community support.
