Sleeplessness due to withdrawal

Sleeplessness due to withdrawal

When going through withdrawal from opiates I experienced severe sleeplessness.  Any ideas on how to help?  Tylenol PM DOES NOT WORK!

You can try valerian root and/or melatonin ( they are OTC )..... a hot bath before going to bed also helps... what day are you ? are you having problems with RLS ?

One thing that really helps me is to put a sleep mask over my eyes(the cooling lavender kind) and put on some music that you like and just lay there and relax.  I also have Ambien to take when I can't sleep, and that really helps too.

I would stay away from Tylenol P.M. in early withdrawal.  (and anything similar to it)  It can actually work the opposite, or it did with me!  Honestly, the first week for me NOTHING worked.  Sorry, but I tried everything, and literally nothing helped!  It takes time and being ok with sleeping 2 hours a night for a couple of weeks.

I'm sorry I don't have more positive news! : )

I tried benedryl and unisom and a hot bath the first week of wd's, it seemed to help a lot. Everyone is different though! Sleep will come, it takes some time.
