thats strange eh?, because when i was on methadone, it was like that for me...my pain was way worse on methadone than it ever was...i guess its just the way different meds effect differently for all of us...i have no injuries, i have fibromyalgia, and though my everyday pain isnt severe, i have flare ups that have been debilitating at times...
but my everyday pain is better and who knows, is it because i am no longer on methadone or is it the sub helping me?
what type of surgery are you looking at?  well i hope it works for you when you are able to get it...i consider myself lucky to not have back problems at all, never have.  i have watched my husband suffer now for close to 16 years, and it seems to me to be the worst type of pain by far...he is eligible for surgery also, but of course we have no insurance anymore and the doctor and orthopedic surgeon were very honest with him, he has had this "injury" for so long, the surgery may not even help him at this point...so do whatever it is you need to do to get this ASAP, it seems the longer you wait, the less of a success the surgery can be...
and i am on long term suboxone maintenance and havent regretted it one bit...what i DO regret is ever taking methadone...methadone withdrawals have by far the worst and longest symptoms than of any medicine on the market...SHEER HELL...even the transition from methadone to sub was hell...but i made it and am happy with where i am now.  i was able to come down from the full 32 mgs max dose to 10 mgs in less than 2 weeks with no problem.  i have also gone up and back down a few times to combat some of the pain with out an issue.  i researched suboxone very thoroughly before i made my decision to even call a doctor about this, and then continued to speak to her on the phone about it asking all kinds of questions for about 3 months before i even made my appointment, so i am confident that i made a conscious decision,...and i am still glad to this day...i saw no other way out for me with methadone, tried it all numerous times, methadone was way tougher than i was. and please dont ever resort to it no matter what, it is hell in tablet form...
good luck to you and i hope you get your surgery soon...

I think you're right.I wish my Dr had gone over this with me.I wish I had found this board before I stopped to get some insight.I think I will be able to hang in there.I just can't imagine going through this again.

I went c/t off 8mg a day of suboxone after doing it for 2 months, 10 days of torture then 13 more days of no energy then re-lapse. tried again to get off sub after 3 months with a slow taper, got to 2mg every 3rd day, but couldn't do it.. Went back on Hydro then tapered day 24 today.. The thing about Sub is it gets you normal and allows you to function really well, I think long term its a mistake... I've read here less then 21 days......

I had a serious back injury 3 yrs ago.I see my pain management Doc this week to discuss what to do now. There is a good possibility of surgery as well but dealing with the work comp system in Cal.has been horrible.

The weird thing is when I was on the 2mg of subox I was having pain in almost every joint in my body.Really strange but I'm guessing it was my bodys way of wanting more of the drug. Now that I'm off that pain is gone.Back pain still there. But I'm so dag on weak & the lack of sleep is brutal.Do you have an injury too?

yes, you should have tapered more and you wouldnt be feeling so bad,but when your ready, only you know whats best for you.
what wrong hun?  do you have legit pain issues?  did you have them before the sub?
thats too bad, some people get quite a bit of relief from their pain from sub,i do, but mine isnt severe on a daily basis... i guess obviously your pain is on the severe end of things?...what will you do for the pain now?
best of luck to you!

I am on day 9 off of subox after being on it for about 3 to 4 months.I came off of 2 mg.Some say I should have tapered more but my pain was getting worse, almost unbearable.I am still feeling lousy but hangin in there.I wish I had done a shorter term of subox but can't look back now.Just talk to your Dr.about what's best for you.

I too am on suboxone, i chose long term maintenance which has really hepled me learn how to live again...
people are successful with a short term detox, this is a personal decision for you to make, and really should be made ahead of time, so you have a plan..
i transitioned from methadone and it was difficult, but well worth the hard time.  it is just a feeling of normalcy...some dysphoria when you first start, but does subside...
sub, whichever way you choose to use it, is a tool, it will still take work, dedication and alot of changes on your part to gain success. but it is a wonderful tool!!  i also have to say you should learn and read all you can about this treatment ahead of time so you are well equipped to do this , the knowledge will really help you in the long run...
best of luck to you and if you have any questions, please let us know...

Hey, I'm on Suboxone and it's working really well for me.   Do you plan on using it for a short term detox or longer?  I have been on it 2 months now and am down to 1 1/2 mg.  Will be doing a long slow taper.  It takes a few days to get your dose correct, but once you get it right it's great.  You feel really normal.  You must be in withdrawal to take your first dose or you will get very sick.  So far I have only good things to say about the Sub. Let us know how it goes tomorrow.   Mary
PS   If you have any other questions feel free to personal message me.

I used Sub for 10 days in June to get off 2 years of pain pills abuse. I have been clean from heroin for over 8 years. I started with 6mgs for 2 days then tapered every other day for the other 7 days. Been clean for over 9 months.

There is more info on Sub in the Health Pages to the right of the forum. Good info.
