Soma-Does it help with the severe w/ds of Norco w/ds??

I am going to detox by myself off of Norco10/325 next week. I detoxed off of a high dose of Fentanyl last July 2008. It was absoultely hell! I only had clonodine and, 800 ibprophin, zanaflex, bentyl, and immodium. Nothing worked at all. The clondine acctually made it worse. I was in w/ds for a month and didn't sleep for a month, ti'll I got some valium. Anway, I have a severe pain condition and was suffering off pain meds for 3months and went to the ER and got on Norco and had 2 painful surgical procedures, one in oct. and one in Jan. So I have been on Norco since October and the mistake I made was taking at least one dose everyday and got hooked in a month b/c of my very high tolerance with the fentanyl. I am now taking 4 to 6 10/325 Norcos 3 times a day just so I won't go in w/ds. So I have no choice but to detox myself next week. I am going to use Soma, 800 ibprohin, bentyl, immodium and klonopin. I am very scared and my bf of 3 months knows nothing about this. I am going to tell him that I am getting off lyrica and that it causes flulike symtoms (symptoms) and insomia, etc. I am so scared about the w/d's b/c of what I went though with fentanyl. People say getting off norco is like a walk in the park compared to fentanyl. Please any advice!!!!Thanks very much!!!!

Ive never used soma to detox but you need to watch how much you take dont take it over the prescribed dose. Soma is additive I was on it and abused it bad 6 to 8 350s a day and they are bad to detox from, the RLS is awful so be careful and the nrco should not be quit as bad as the Fent Patch

I do know all about Somas, I have been on them for years for severe migraines and my Interstitial cystis. You can not become addicted to Soma. You can become dependent on them and I never have or had w/ds from them ever. I just want to know if them will help with w/ds.

You can be addicted to somas and some people do have wd gald to hear you don't have it..They may help with the muscle aches .They have an ingredient that is very close to a benzo so it might help your anextiy a bit .Is there any way you can get colodine that is very helpful .Compared to the fentynal this should be far easier.Good Luck we are her for you.

The main difference between w/d's from norco compared to fentanyl will be the length of time the w/d's last. The actual physical symptoms should start getting better after about 5-7days, then it basicly just the mental aspects you'll have to deal with. Try not to stress yourself out too much about the detox, you can get through it, it should be easier than what you experienced with fentanyl. Stay positive, good luck and take care.

soma is kin to benzos..not the same but u can not ct them if u have been abusing them...so they are a dangerous drug to abuse...u r taking 240 mg of hydro a day?  the tyleonol will fry ur liver at that dose so it is good u r getting off...do u want totaper or go ct..tapering down to 100 mgs a day then ct may be best..do u have someone to hold ur pills and dole them out as u probably know how hard it is for an addict to control their own taper...write it out/pick a quit day and stick to it make a plan..do u attend meetings and aftercare?

I do believe that Norco will be much easier than the fentanyl. You have to get your thought processs into the mode that you can do this. Be strong. Do not give in to this. Keep posting

You did say that you were using the somas to detox and then they were history. That is a good thing. Have a loved one hold the somas,,,, dispense them to you and then once you are through with the detox..flush the rest of the detox meds. Again... YOU CAN DO THIS~~~~

Please be careful, you can become addicted to Soma's. My son is now. they are a very powerful muscle relaxer. so if you can detox without them I would try. you don't want to trade one DOC for another. Detoxing off of Norco is gonna be a lot easier than the Fentanyl. almost like a walk in the park, you might be surprised and the w/d symptoms not be that bad at all. good luck, please be care with the Soma's. I know just because one person became addicted doesnt mean you will, they just scare me. take care

i used soma when i detoxed cold turkey from lortab.  i only took one 250mg tab the first two nights.  it helped relax me before i went to sleep and helped with the restless leg syndrome at night as well.  if you use it, don't take more than you need to and only for a few days in my opinion.  i only needed it for two days then switched to benydrl or tylenol pm for nights during the first week of my detox.

you also said that you have klonopin that you will be using as well??  please don't take the soma and klonopin at same time.  both of these medications cause drowsiness.

I know all about soma's and like I said had taken them since I was 17 up ti'll 2008 and I am almost 30. I have never ever been addicted to them or detoxed. I am senior in college in psychology and social work and I am also an intern for mental health and drug abuse. I knw my stuff. I take my pain medicines not to get high and I have never taken them to get high. I don't even like the way they make me feel. Some people have pain conditions and have no choice but to detox when their tolerance gets too high. Its ***** and is really not fair! I have read many PDR's, spoke to over 10 Pharmacists and doctors and you can not They are the strongest mucle relaxer and people do abuse them. But for how long Ive taken them I never craved them or had w/ds ever. All I wanted to know was does it help with the severe w/ds of detoxing cold turkey of high does of norco10/325. Thanks swandive222 for answering my question and for everyone elses support.

You can be addicted to Soma. There are too many doctors that will not prescribe them because they are heavily abused. It is also called Vanadom and was used as a sleeping pill a while back. When metabolized it breaks down into something similar to a benzodiazapine. My cousin is heavily addicted to these and can't take them because she abuses them everytime. Just because one person is not addicted to them does not mean no one can become addicted. That's just like saying I drink alcohol on occasion and have never been an alcoholic and can't become one. That doesn't mean no one else can either. That just means it would never be your drug of choice, obviously because it's effects are not what your looking for to get high. So for someone to say it can't become addicting is absurd, everyone is unique and different, and what does it for one does not for the other. Hope that makes sense.
As far as using Soma to detox, it might help you sleep, but the other wd's I'm not too sure if it helps much. It might relax you some so it's not so terrible. Just make sure you don't swap one for the other.            Good luck, and best wishes.

Well it is day 7 and the Soma's helped a lot. I took them at night for the leg cramps and my severe back pain. I took klonopin during the day for anxiety. Everything went fine. I got my damn period , so Im having really bad cramps and the back pain. I still have the diareah and rearely cold chills. Im not sleeping to well now though. I already  have insomnia and my trazadone doesn't even work! Its just going to have to take time like before. I hate the lonely nights! I was so scared of this detox and I am so relieved now!
THANK GOD!
