Started subutex today and really nervous

August of 2010 I was attacked from behind when I was walking to my car, I received multiple injuries including a broken nose, broke jaw in two places, and torn tendon in my hand. I was hospitalized for two days and had surgery on my jaw to wire it shut. I was presribed Loratab elixir(liquid form) because I could not swallow pills. The following Friday from being released I was laying in bed and started to get a weird sharp pain in my left side, I started to freak out and the pain got worse and I could barely breath. My gf called the ambulance and I was taken to the hospital I had developed pnuemonia (pneumonia) because of the bacteria build up resulting from my broken jaw and me not being active. I spent 15 days in the hospital ans the pneumonia transfered to both lungs. While in the hospital I was getting Dilaudid every 4-6 hrs(but I made sure it was every 4hrs on the dot) as needed for pain. After a few days of round the clock pain and round the clock pain meds I took advantage of it and was literally watching the clock for my next dose. Dilaudid is no joke it shocks me that everytime I asked for it they gave it to me with no problem. After spending 15 days straight on this stuff a few times a day I felt I needed it to be well normal. Once I got out I didn't have Dilaudid but I sure did have my liquid loratab and I would guzzle it down like water. Once my jaw healed the doctor wouldn't refill my script anymore, so there I was trying to figure out a way to get more pain meds. So I thought hey might as well get my surgery done on my hand that'll guarantee me some pills for awhile. Sure enough I had the surgery and was prescribed 10/325 norcos(because I was already tolerant to the 5/325) they sent me home with 20. To be honest my hand hurt for about a week that's it. That first wk I would take one in the morning one in the afternoon and sometimes one at night to sleep. Then I started taking 2 at once just to get that Ultimate feeling of greatness. I would call my doctor office one a week for a refill and sure enough the would call it in for me without any issues. After about 7 refills in less than 2 months they said "do not call anymjore we will not give you anymore refills".  So now what do I do? I'm already dependent on the norcos by now and my doctor won't give me a refill. So I went to my parents house for help, no not help from them, I went to find pills. Sure enough I found a bottle of my moms 5/325 vicodin I took it w/o even hesitating. Well those ran out within two days so I started asking around using my injuries as an excuse and ppl believed that's what it was for. It is now 10months later and I have spent so much on pills I can't even remember it is well over a few thousand $$. I have tried oxycontins, morphine pills, tramadol. I quit my job two months ago in order to have more time to get high. I spent the savings bonds my father bought for me when I was born. I am 21yrs old btw. A normal dose for me is 9-11 10/325 norcos at one time & sometimes up to 15 a daymost ppl can take half a pill and can barely function. I can take that many pills and go and have a conversasion with anybody and they wouldn't even notice I was high. I have lost most of my friends because id rather stay home alone and get ****** up then be with anyone. I almost resorted to heroin last wk when I couldn't find pills. I am in fear of what my liver looks like bcuz of all the tylenol I have taken in the past 10months. I realized I have a problem and I have been researching suboxone treatments but I have found so many mixed reviews I don't know what to believe. I found one place and called and they wouldn't let me speak to a doctor all they said was bring $180 and ill be good I definately don't wanna go there. So I found a place called soft landing recovery and went there today, I am nervous about this whole thing and unsure I felt really rushed when I went there as if they just turn and burn ya. Within 10mins of being there the doctor gave me a script for Subutex and pretty much sent me on my way. I was wondering if anyone has taken subutex and has any advice or how long it takes. Thank you

Yes and I was taking WAY more than you- 35-40 of those per day, sometimes your daily dose all at once. Miserable and did that for years. I finally got on Subutex on a fast 21- day taper by a doctor and finished in 18, starting at 12mg tapering to 1mg then done. A week of feeling no evergy, but that was it. Now on day 75 and feel great, no cravings or anything.

You can do the same- read the health pages upper right of this site there are tons of articles on Sub and even a taper plan on there. The trick is to get on and off and don't get hooked on the sub. Workout, avoid all pill connections, meetings, counselors, change your lifestyle. But it literally saved my life.

Good luck

Hey thanks for replying. I couldn't even imagine taking that many in one day.Congrats on how good you are doing though. that gives me a lot of hope. The doctor only gave me 14 2mg pills and just said to take half a pill every 2 hrs as needed. Out of everything I have read everyones dose has started high and tapered off like you said. I don't understand why I am building up more and more instead of starting high and going to none, do you have any ideas on that???
