basically a clinic is under govt regulations and participants are drug tested on a regular basis..i hear different cities have different rules...here after a certain amount of time with no dirty drug screens etc they will let u have take homes..first to every other day/2 days take home then it gets to where u only go to the clinic once a week to pick up ur week's supply..at the clinic my son worked at, they use liquid m-done and the dose is taken once a day in front of the nurse at the clinic..when u want to get off the taper is under the doctor at the clinic's control and it can be frustrating/red tape as with any govt project...no aftercare was required at the clinic my son worked at which i thought was a bad idea
keep posting as others may help..ie the post above urs is a m-done question but he uses for pain so probably does not go to a clinic..m-done can not be documented as being prescribed for "addiction' only pain from an MDs office here..for addiction the clinics are used..whereas..sub can be prescribed by a doctor for addiction..no sub clinics that i know of...yet
I think you're in a better position to stop now, w/just the oxy than if you were on Methadone. Read this: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/46621
Will Methadone work? Yes. They will wait for you to start to detox, then give you enough meds to "help" you - nothing more. They will attempt to find a dose that works for you.
You said it was time to stop. I don't belive Methadone is a way to stop. How is it messing up your life? I'd truely like to know because I can definitely relate. You are hearing from someone who feels he is in a hole, too. I've gotton to the point where I'm affraid of all these opiates.
Good luck to you. Knowing you need help is part of the answer. A BIG PART.
