Starting over

Hi, im new to this whole thing...but a little about me, i have been addicted to opiates for about 6 years (percocet 10 mg-6-7 a day) I am pretty young and realize this is not the life I want for myself. I am starting my sobriety tomorrow and guess I need a little support. I am very alone in my struggle and to be honest, it's horrible. I  stopped about 6 months ago or 20 days and then like an idiot started again. I regret that very much but what can you do?I have a prescription for gabapentin which from what ive heard and what i can remember help a lot with withdrawals. I would love to hear anyone else's experiences with using gabapentin/ neurontin for opiate w/d. I am just really ready to be done with this, I have had a tough few years and I guess this has been a crutch and I feel weak and pathetic for getting myself to this point but change has to start somewhere right? Thanks in advance for any advice/support :)

Hi, sorry for the late response, I've had some Internet issues. I have been taking the neurontin which I will say helps a lot with w/d's. I have no energy and some chills and sleep issues. The last time I stopped I use neurontin as well, I made it 20 days and then relapsed because I felt like I still felt like crap and I was never going to feel "normal" again and I gave in. I of course regret that very much now.  I am a single mom, work and go to school full time so I guess it's the no energy and depressed feeling during w/d that affects me most. I'm praying that I can do it this time.  I have been working out a lot lately too, I've heard that helps but again right now, not a lot of energy to do so. I dont have anyone to help me or support me with this so Im trying to be as strong as I can. I just want to know that I wont always feel this way...thanks for support!!

I am on day 8 coming of methadone from abusing oxyies and heroin! I don't know anything about the drug u use for WD but I do know that this form is a great support, u have come to the right place! I got off methadone 7 years ago and started again! Don't foucus on your mistake of going back to pills , foucus on the fact u are ready to get rid of this problem, Congrads on making the step to quit! I have trouble sleeping and find it helpful to ether ask for help or give help where I can!! Stay strong , u know its going to be hard , but the short time of WD 's are nothing compared to how long u can live free of this problem after! don't feel assamed we all have been there and this is the right step to being a better person

Hey & Welcome Thanks for posting and Congratulations on your decision to get clean! Please, don't feel weak and ashamed. We've all fallen over and over. It's a learning curve. You're not alone anymore. You've come to the right place and you've taken that first all important step. So, you're starting tomorrow? Great! There are people here who are on Neurontin, have used it for kicking and also those who have dropped it as a med. I haven't personally used it but I've been told by folks I trust here that it does work. I'll leave the specific (since I don't have them, HA!) to someone more knowledgeable. So, how else are you preparing for your detox? Is there anyone around you - family/friend, etc. that you could reach out to for help and support where you are?
