Still Feeling Strange a Week After Smoking Marijuana

Hi, First time question.

A week ago my friends and I went on a trip and smoked marijuana.

I have only smoked it properly once before, and the experience this time was different to the first. The first time it was a pleasant experience, it just made everything funnier and food taste better, there was no real 'body' effects. however this time although we smoked much more. There were far greater effects, my tongue went completely numb and it was as if i was having numbness surging through my body for the period of the high, it felt as if my heart was racing, and it generally freaked me out, so i decided to sleep it off.

ever since the following morning I’ve had this strange sort of 'hung over' feeling but different. I feel somewhat dizzy at times, generally much slower in the head, difficulty concentrating, lazier, my appetite is a bit off, just a sick feeling and I just really don’t feel like myself. The fact it has been a week since and I’m still feeling these effects is starting to genuinely concern me.

Personally I will never be using it again after this experience, I’m starting to think there is a possibility it may have been laced with something. I really don't know, I’m just trying to stay calm and keep positive really hoping this will pass before it effects my life and studies. After searching online I’ve read similar experiences of this lasting weeks or even months.

If the effects worsen I will definitely be seeing my GP.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar after effects experience or would have any advice?

Thanks.

Good for you....lesson learned.

Not a bad idea to buy a cleanse.....it certainly wouldn't cause any harm and it would surely assist~

Thanks for the responses everyone it really is appreciated,

My friends havn't been feeling the same level of this apparently, and they aren't regular smokers either, it was something we decided to try it all together on our trip just as a bit of an experience.

I think part of the issue is that it is still illegal where I live and its whatever you can get basically, which is why im thinking anything could've been in it, even something as simple as a pesticide. Which also circles back to why I havn't seen my GP yet, being a wisker under 21 im still on my parents health care plan.. and as you can imagine this really is not a conversation you want to have with your parents. But im prepared to approach them honestly soon if this continues.

I have been giving my body the best chance to detox as I can, ive been drinking heaps of water, taking a multi vitiman and a super B vitiman and  trying to rest as much as I can, and I definately feel a bit different today than I have the past few days, I havnt felt any weird body effects like i have, its only still feeling somewhat foggy and slow in the head and a bit of a headache.. still feels very different to usual but I dont think its quite as bad.

Honestly this scare has given me a real reality check. What ive learnt is that it effects people very differently from person to person, and you really need to know 100% what you are putting into your body and who and where it came from, I certainly didnt learn about this sort of an experience in drug education in school!.. but this is how we learn, and ive learned my lesson.

I think it was not just the pot, especially due to lasting effects. Synthetic pot lingers like that, but not usually a whole week. It could be your individual response to it. My wife smoked off and on for 20 years, but all of a sudden, she had anxiety attacks, and felt bad all over. I formed an allergy to fresh pot resin. Living where I do, there are fields of it and homes full of it. If I go into an area of plants in bloom, I have an almost anaphylactic shock, tongue is numb, throat swells and lungs are constricted. Those are examples of individual responses. Another cause of problems is the fungus aspergillis, it is infamous in the Mexican Sativa strains being shipped here. Breathing the spores is bad, smoking it can have neurological effects that can cause a variety of symptoms. I am not advocating, but one should really know what they are putting in their body, if they are going to use at all. Anyway, those are some causes I could think of, great points above as well. The strongest pot in the world is grown in my area, the hydroponic growing methods push the alkaloid load even higher than these intense strains would produce in a farm or garden. Still, a week later is too long. I would suggest a liver cleanse, with or without a doctors visit. THC stores in fat, the liver gets bogged down. Milk Thistle tincture, drink tons of water, and eat a real clean diet. Make sure you get lots of whole grain, it helps take the toxins and lipids out of the body. Even PCP, amphetamine, or crack cocain should not be having an effect physically after a week. It could be mental, neurological, environmental, allergic reaction, but either way, I would flush my system and not put any new toxins in your body. If you have insurance, why not get checked out?

I,ve heard this from a guy that smoked synthetic marijuana ,he   displayed similar symptoms like numbing to face and tongue. also pcp is something that is laced with pot also. you have to be really careful because you never know when someone else breaks out any drug whats in it. hope you learned from this experience. if symptoms continue I would see a doctor.its best to stay away from all drugs. peace out!!!!!!!!!!

It kinda sounds like it may have been laced with crack or meth based on the symptoms you are describing.  I'm glad you have decided to stay away from it. Be very careful when choosing friends.  Sometimes they can lead us down paths we never meant to go. Feel better!

Hi there-

It definitely sounds like it was laced with something and I would echo Sonrissa's advice above.  Pot is stronger these days and can be mass produced using different chemicals.  Check with your friends and see if anyone is having similar symptoms.  See a doc if your symptoms continue.  Pot should not make you feel like this- maybe at first if it is too strong or you smoke too much, and a hang over feeling can be normal.  But prolonged symptoms are NOT normal and point to something else.  Take care and keep us updated.

Hi there, welcome to the forum.  Did anyone else in your group of friends have this same kind of reaction?  It's been decades since I've smoked any pot, but I understand that it is stronger and a much higher quality these days. I think it certainly may be possible that it was laced with something. That's why I was wondering if anyone else was affected like you were. Good idea to see your doctor if these symptoms continue.  I also thinks it's good that you have decided not to smoke pot anymore. Ya just never know what may be added to the pot. Take care, I wish you the best, and hope you feel better soon. I'm sorry I couldn't be of better help. Hopefully, someone with more experience in this will weigh in.
