Still struggling with my Valium Taper

Hi All,

Still having a massive struggle with this poison. Took a 1mg reduction Thursday night and went straight into heavy W/D Friday(Now how does that work? The half life of these drugs is so long that it must all be just in mind) Got through yesterday by the skin of my teeth but today is another story.

Took this last cut after 2 weeks (13mgs to 12mgs) and I was not really feeling too good anyway but because my wife wants to go away in our Motor-Home for a week from next week-end and I knew If I didn't make that cut this week then it would run to a month and that is too long.

I can't say that I really want to go away myself but she works and deserves the break so needs must. I'm sure when I get away I will be ok, we are going to one of favourite sites which is only 40 miles or so away. I want to try to get some fly-fishing in if I can, haven't done it for a while, lack of motivation etc.

Now I find myself with a hernia as well which needs to be operated on soon,. Really worried about just how that will affect my taper, what with the Pre-Med and the anesthetic. Not at all worried about the operation, just the possible fall out afterwards.

I just wish some of this anx would go away, I think I can deal with the heavy depression, just feel really really low but the anx is driving me crazy.

Anybody got any experience of operations whilst on a Benzo detox,?

the wellbutrin mentioned above has helped me tremendously with energy but i am not sure it would help for anxiety...maybe the ssris like prozac or lexapro....paxil is supposed to be good for that...zoloft is renound for treating anxiety and working well....kimmieb withdrew from benzos successfully and has been clean for a couple of months...her dosctor helped her...her main prob has been sleep...maybe u could pm her

Try Benzobuddies.org  You will need to do a very slow taper with valium benzos are very hard to w/d from and recovery is slow but it can be done. You just have to be very careful. There are also people in here that can give you good advice and help.

i just started taking prozac and wellbutrin. with this combination it helps with anxiety and depression. yes, i struggle with benzos as well etc. the combination of this two meds has really helped with w/d.
