Stinking Thinking

Hello

Today I am day 3 of being clean..

I have noticed that I do a lot of stinking thinking.
I have not acted on any of it. What I do think about, are ways I can do it differently.
I have changed my phone number.
I am trying to write down what are my trigger's and why I like using.

I have contacted an outpatient program and today I will be going to an N/A meeting.

Can anyone give me any insight?

I do want a new way to LIVE!!!

Hey Bro -

I know exactly what your talking about with the "stinking thinking" -- I too thought I could do it differently and the result was a disaster!!! Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to stop these crazy thoughts especially in early recovery but they become less frequent as time goes on... Something I never did that your doing is CALLED MYSELF OUT!!! I highly commend you for posting your thoughts on this forum -- that's HUGE! You should be extremely proud of yourself for having the sense to do so, as I wish I did!!! I also, want to commend you for going to NA, and you should share this story with your group as many people at the meeting will be able to learn from you on this particular experience... I am as of today 70 days clean (the longest time I have ever put together) and if it wasn't for being honest to myself and going to AA/NA meetings I would have never been sober this long.. Addiction is a fight we can not do alone!!! Congrats on your clean time -- your off to a tremendous start!!!

All the best!!

Oh I see.. I don't have experience with crack but from what I hear it is a huge mental addiction.. One of my really good friends said the physical wd was minimal but the emotional stuff is insane. Do u attend meetings or have any plans for aftercare in place?

Yes, it is crazy to see how drugs are our minds and thoughts.

That's okay about saying pills.  What helps is having someone to talk to about what I am going through and they understand it.
I will try that.
Thanks

Isn't it amazing how addiction works? It actually tells our brains we need it. That's all it is, the drugs want back in and u just have to keep telling them no! When those thoughts come into my head I have to literally stop, breathe, and pray for it to pass...and it does!
