hey guys.. just woke up. didnt sleep at all!!! How is this worth it? How can pain, no sleep, and nausea be worth it? Shouldnt the answer be to find a way to take the pills responsibly, and not just to deal with it... Surely im wrong, since its such an epidemic, but it just doesnt seem worth it. What am i gaining? Also, i didnt know tramadol was addicting. i see alot of people on here coming off tramadol. I was prescribed that years ago but got no relief from it and was taking tons of those as well... thought they erent narcotic. didnt know you could even get high on tramadol... pick your poison i guess... geeez this *****.. i can handle the chills and nausea, but the leg pain and diahrea is brutal... i dont have a choice now i guess though... i go to see my pain dr tomorrow, and he refuses to prescribe narcotics so i dont have to worry there. they do massage and PT in house though so i hope it helps.. ill try and get out of the house to buy those leg pain helpers you decribed.... I have a bottle of requip, have you heard of it? does it help?
Send me good vibes! I NEED IT
Hello~
As far as my experience (which my husband and I are 8 days off oc cold turkey), it's a b@#$@ and you gotta get thru it. You didn't get this way in one day, and it wont stop in one day. You think you wont make it, you can't take anymore, but trust me....life w/o pills is worth it!!! Extremely freeing!!! Think about it, it's 1-2 weeks our of your life.
Just so you know, day 8 AND we STILL can't sleep (which is why it's 1am and I'm here:-), legs still act up, it comes and goes. People on here said force yourself to do something. We thought they were crazy, it's was hard enough getting in the shower on day 3, right? It does help to move around and makes it go away for a while.
You can do it, it *****!!! But you can do it!!! The mind is a awesome organ.
BTW, the new OP's are out so you might be forced to quit. They're really cracking down right now. I know alot of people are in our same place right now!!!
Take care!!! Post back please!!!
Those things that Tramahater suggested REALLY do work and yes you can find them at Wal-Mart and they are inexpensive. I am 35 days Tramadol free now and the legs stuff is what almost had me giving up that first week of WDs. I still occassionally get RLS at night and first thing I do is stretch my legs really good then take my Hylands....it has been a Godsend for me. Take care and hang in there! Blessings, Lisa
I hear ya with the pain. I get back trouble to and have trouble with my right leg. Did the doctors give you any kind of physical therapy to do. I regularly do stretching and strengthening exercises and this helps quite a bit. It seems the better shape my core muscles are in the less often I have do deal with a lot of pain. I also drink 3/4 to a gallon of water everyday. When the pain is bad I generally only need tylenol, advil or aleve. Sometimes I need a muscle relaxer and when I do I have a neighbor that holds on them for me. Once I take one I want more. That's just how I am once I get started.
Try taking brisk walks, later in the day. It helps the legs too. Taking hot baths with 2-3 cups Epsom salts can help too. Bananas are a great source of potassium and other things that help the legs. Don't give in to the temptation to use. It will be there as long as you entertain the thought of using. Temptation is always there, but as you close the doors to it, it looses it's power over you.
Id like to live without the pain pills but how long can I expect to have the leg pain? My mother came off morphine and loratabs about 60 days ago and still get sthe leg cramps every other night.. i dont think i could handle that. I can handle the back pain, and even if it was just pain in the legs, but it is a tear jerking annoyance that nothing eliminates. I have not tried what you suggested and when i run out in 2 days i will go buy..i can get all those OTC at wal mart? I have something called requip. have about 10 pills, but i have taken them before and they didnt help at all... so frustrating... why isnt there a smoking gun miracle fix for this!!!! Im so close to just finding a drug dealer!!
Robitussin DM helps with the RLS.
Hi! You have to decide if you want to live with the pain or the pain pills??? This would be a great time to see if you can. Give yourself a month and see how your pain is.
Hylands Leg Cramps, Hylands Restful Legs and Mag/cal/zinc supplement ALL help legs, and they can be taken together! I never thought anything OTC could possibly help, but they made a huge difference!
Let us know how you are doing! : )
