Stopped my methadone without tapering! ya not good:(

I just read Tomma's situation and I have the same feelings, the feeling in your gut that makse u twist and turn and have to pop up outta bed. God help me. I'm not nieve but as I'm feeling this I think I'm the only one in the wrold feeling this feeling no one living should feel, right! I ened up here from my doctor perscribing Percocet 5 years ago. Bad road. If I could have oxycodone everyday for the rest of my life without dealing with these damn doctors and suffering when they do not respond to me, pain meds made me feel normal, stronger haha ironic isn't? Life is not like what so I'm rtying so hard to be strong and keep telling myself I will feel healthy again. I'm  type 1 diabetics on top, listen, like I do not even get outta bed anylonger cause I'm hurting so bad everyy inch and so tired from long alone evilly painful nites. So my question is, does it go away?!?!

That post from Tomma is very old, but has to be one of the most popular ones on the site...I have read through the entire thread and it is definitely a classic.  I came off methadone in July of this year, I did a rapid 3 wk detox from 20mg to 5mg and then jumped cold turkey from there....it was a pure ride through he--!

What dose are you at?  It really matters because even those who taper down to 1 mg still have reported some rough WDs....the thing is to know that it is possible, because when I started I did not believe I could make it, until i got to this site and Gnarly and the others let me know it is possible.  I have had a few relapses with pills since, but I have quite a bit of clean time under my belt (don't like counting days) and I will never put myself in that situation again.  So as much as I hated the methadone WD, it was the best eye-opener I could have experienced in order to get me on the right path.

You will need to use every resource available...amino acids, hot baths, prayer, exercise, fruit/vegetable juice, comedy movies, and more prayer!  I wish you the best.

Look I can't say I know what it is like to come off of methadone without a tapering program, I myself am tapering now I have set it up so that on every Fri. I come down 3mg's so far I have come down from 80mg to 71mg and feel great. It may not seem huge but when you have been on methadone you know how hard it is to come off. I highly recommend you go to a dctor you trust and talk to him or her about what you can do in order to not suffer as bad. Going cold turkey is pure hell I am assured, and would never want to go at it that way, I do wish you the best of luck.....

There is a reason they tell you to taper from potentally dangerous drugs like methadone. You need not suffer like that, not to mention what it does to every inch of your body, the leg pains must be excruciating! It's very good that you want to get clean but please do it under the advice of the doctor that prescribed it for you. It's very dangerous waters your treading in. Please do yourself a favor, you are worth it.

I myself have never taking methadone but have taken other pain meds such as oxycontin, vicodin, oxycodone, etc. Even though I've never taken methadone I can assure you that what you are feeling will go away. You will feel like you did before you ever touched an opiate. There are other members here that made it through methadone withdrawals and feel better than they ever have. It's not an easy road but it is a road that comes to an end. You will get there if you keep fighting.
What are you doing for your withdrawals? Are you taking any supplements? Are you eating healthy? Are you exercising? The more you move around the better.
Keep going strong. You can do this.
