Hi. I am just curious as to why you feel such an urgency to taper quickly. I am tapering on OpanaER. I have felt an urgency also, but my body will not let me go too fast. I run into either intolerable anxiety or pain in my thoracic back and I can't push the taper any more quickly. I want to be off the Opana because I am tired of having my mind and emotions so scrambled. I hate the panicky feelings, and I think my emotions will be more stable (although I have always struggled with my emotions, I never recall having the difficulties I have had while doing this taper). Also, I think (but I am not sure) that I was in less pain. I sure hope so! Anyway, I am having to learn patience. It is very hard. But we both know the holidays are the worst time to detox or taper. Perhaps you will decide to try to relax into the tapering experience, as I am. I pray that we will end up mentally stronger one day for having gone through this! God bless you. Marie
I'm pretty sure the posters to your question told you not to do this quickly. Give yourself a real chance here to get off the subs by doing it properly. You can do this but you have to follow the advice of your Dr. This isn't a race - you didn't become an addict overnight and won't get off the drugs overnight either. Please listen to everyone and take their advice.
Good luck to you. And congrats for wanting to quit. :)
Thank you for the replies. My post sounds addict-like because I am an addict. I will taper offas you all suggest. But fast. I have give from 4 port day to 2 wirh no problem.
You need to very slowly taper that Sub down to nothing. Stopping at 32mg would be a nightmare for you! I'm sorry to tell you but there's no "fast way".
Please call your doctor for some advice...
sorry, but your post is so addict-like! as "they" say: "i want what i want, when i want it."
in my experience, sub is a really good tool for opiate recovery. it allows an opiate addict to stay clean while they work on their recovery. the key is to build a solid foundation, and then a structure, of recovery while you SLOWLY taper down to zero on the sub.
part of the deal with sub is that it represents a break with the self-help, in-secret recovery approach that fails so many addicts. it can be successful when used with a physician's advice. it seems to cause nothing but trouble when that advice is either not sought or is ignored.

Please speak with your doctor. He can put you on a taper plan. If you quit cold turkey you will have withdrawal symptoms for months.
