Stuck

Wife started taking adderall and now she has completely changed. paranoid and delusional and is in denial. I spoke to the prescribing dr once but now she has upped her dose. Our whole family is concerned and the marriage/family is ready to be broken. Can I write to someone to let the dr. know this is a serious issue. My wide has a history of drug addiction to speed that she kicked 15 years ago when she became a christian.

Just type in the drug you want info on.
You can also just do a search for each drug and get alot of sites with abuse info.

I am so sorry to hear about your wife. She sounds as though she is in real trouble.

The combination of meds she is using is a lethal cocktail.

You already know that there isn't much you can do for her, unless she admits to a problem and asks for help. All you can do is protect yourself and your daughter.

I will pray for you and your family.

Thanks for the responses. I doubt her doctor will see me. She told my wife Ithat I had called (over a year ago)and my wife was furious with me saying that I am trying to controll her life. I do fear she is moving towards the psychosis break point. She is also on vicodine and muscle relaxers for degenerated disks and xanax for all the crisis's in her life. I do belive the Adderall is the drug that has done the most damage and may drive her to a point of no return. delusions and paranoia are running rapid these days and mainly towards me. Blinds are always shut, she believes I have placed a tracking device on her car and that I am plugged into tapping her computer. Also believes that she is being electricuted so everything in the house is unplugged. I come home from work each day to chaos. I know that i am not responsible to rescue her life and I have my 16yr daughter to care for. I just am having a hard time watching someones life go down the drain. jesus is going to have to come in and work a miracle in her life and she needs to want this to happen. We were both meth users but got clean 15yeras ago when we became christian. Now drugs have come back to rear its ugly head attempting to destroy and conquer. Thanks again..I appreciate your thoughts.

I would suggest you pay a personal visit to her doctor. Find out exactly why she is on this stuff and why he felt it nesesary to up her dosage. Explain what has been happening to her and her past addiction.  Does she need to be on this stuff for a real medical reason? Not that it will make a difference at this point if she's addicted.  Having all the info and knowledge will be important. She will need to want to get clean. How you deal with her addiction will be up to you. But at least make your decisions with all the knowledge and education you can gather. Perhaps Naranon would be a help too.
Just some info below:

Drug Abuse and Dependence
ADDERALL® is a Schedule II controlled substance.

Amphetamines have been extensively abused. Tolerance, extreme psychological dependence, and severe social disability have occurred. There are reports of patients who have increased the dosage to levels many times higher than recommended. Abrupt cessation following prolonged high dosage administration results in extreme fatigue and mental depression; changes are also noted on the sleep EEG. Manifestations of chronic intoxication with amphetamines include severe dermatoses, marked insomnia, irritability, hyperactivity, and personality changes. The most severe manifestation of chronic intoxication is psychosis, often clinically indistinguishable from schizophrenia.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hello and welcome.

Was your wife prescribed adderall for ADD?

I understand your concern, given her history. Honestly, I don't know who you could write to, but you could try to talk with her doctor again. I assume your wife is unapproachable on the subject.

I am sorry, I am at a loss. It is quiet here this weekend with the holiday, so please be patient for responses. Take care.
