Suboxne - Day 1
I have been on Subs for over 3 years for a 3 month habit because I was pregnant at the time. They felt it was the best, big mistake because I haven't been off subs since. I have two sugerys coming up and need help from a former sub user who had to stop because they needed to take pain meds, this will be unaviodable because these are serious surgeries. When I do stop the only withdraw I feel is laziness, sore, and tired. Anexity is the biggest issue. How long does sub take to get out of system? My sub dr. said 24hours, but I think that it takes longer. I am having sugery on May the 7th, last strip of 8mg was yesterday. I can't taper off because sugery is soon...
Sorry for the confusion, I read it wrong ;) Anyway, I had major surgery while on suboxone. I didnt tell my doc i was on it....suboxone will block the morphine/pain meds. However, I was at about 4mg at the time, and ended up still feeling the morphine somewhat.....I didnt notice it at first but I realized when it started to wear off that it was working in the first place. I did not take the pain meds after the surgery, my doc proscribed me pain meds and vallumes (spelling?) and I only took the latter. It was major major surgery, I was very sore after, but it got better with time, just like anything else. I took motrin 800's. I didnt start taking my suboxone again until 4 days after. And I didnt dose the day before the surgery. Good luck....you'll be ok!!! Let us know how your doing!
Yes, I got in trouble with benzos at one point taking more than required. I do know there is a limit. So i need to watch myself. I only have fish oil and regualr vitamins. I guess I need to go get these thing this evening.

Damn good job girl! I can't believe you went and ran, that's awesome! I sure in the hell didn't! Everyone kept telling me to exercise and I was like WTF??? Are you kidding, my arms and legs felt like lead! LOL...I remember I had to still drive carpool every other day during this crap, which was really hard. I remember praying hard that I made it home! Do you have the necessary vitamins and such that you will need to do this? I took the following: L-Tyrosine (GNC is the only place I've found it), vit c crystals (mixed in water), magnesium, potassium, Gaba 750 (for my brain!), Gatorade, and broth (b/c I had no appetite for weeks!), Immodium A.D (for the bathroom), and a nice comfortable bed! I went from bed to floor, bed to sofa, bed to floor, bed to bathroom, etc... Do you have anyone, a friend you can call, to just check in with you once a day? Keep posting so we know how your doing. BTW...be very careful with the benzos, I don't think you want to get started with that crap b/c it doesn't take long for our bodies to get hooked on those as well. Your going to have trouble w/ sleep and you want to just grin and bear it! Taking the benzos to take the edge off is only going to prolong your w/d! Be strong, Stay strong, and remember, there is a light at the end of this tunnel....and it IS very bright! I promise!
I have xantax and can take up to 2mg a day, along with my limitical which I was taking for biploar. Thie helps with mood swings. I don't like xantan and only take it when I need it. I will use it because it is the only benzo that works. I did not take an sub today. I got no chose but to stop cold turkey. I am a small person and run about 3 miles a day, which was diffcult this morning without the aid of a sub, but I did it even though my legs feel heavy. Sub has also made my thryoid worse - there is warrning that Sub can do this. I just found it on drugs.com. I go from hypo to hyper and this medicine has done more harm. Now Just to make it tomorrow.
Some people might disagree however at least for me I still felt tramadol when I had just taken 8mgs of Sub. It was my first dose of sub for an addiction to another opiate and I took the sub too soon and felt precip withdrawals coming on so I took some tramadol and sure enough they went away fine. I tried to take the opiate I was addicted to but I didn't feel that at all, but the tramadol worked and took away all the pain.
Tramadol addiction is nasty, but it might be better to stay on the sub and take tramadol instead of risking getting hooked on opiates again because you know once you get that feeling it will be really hard to control it.
To answer your question the subs should be out after 3-4 days depending on your body mass, metabolism, if you exercise, etc.

I think the issue though is she's having surgery in 2 weeks and they want her off completely before the surgery? Does that sound right to you?
I was on sub for six years and got off without a symptom to speak of. I did a 2 year taper from 1mg though.....slow and steady. And i had no problems at all. Im on day 32 without them and I feel great. I dont crave them, or anything else for that matter....you can get off of them!!!!! And you will feel good once you do!
That is just it. I didn't have a problem. I was taking regular for back pain while preggo. However I did take more pills then I should on some days. When I was out, I didn't go buy them from streets ect.. but I did find myself wanting to Dr. hope which is almost impossible now a days.

BTW people who smoke quite cold turkey and my dad use to explain how he felt and that is how I feel going off sub. Then I had to take them everyday. Tapering really does seem to be the key to subs, however, were u able to successfully taper off the pain meds? I used the opiates for energy and b/c I felt totally normal and energiz
Sub. is a great drug but my true purpose to take it is for anxiety and engery which is bad. That is additcive behavior itself. The only thing I can say it has helped with is me staying off all drugs and not wanting them. But want sub is just the same. I remember a time before sub and I was fine, happy, relaxed and I want to reclaim that. Maybe taper for a bit longer and push sugery out a few more weeks. My Dr. is in la la land...24hours...
That's because Subs have a half life of 72 hours, you wouldn't really feel the withdrawal effects until 3 days after taking your last strip/pill. I withdrew from subs many years ago and it sucked for a while. It is doable though if you really want this. Anxiety is normal I am still feeling it everyday but it gets better with time. We need time to let your bodies and brains heal from the negative effects these drugs have on us.
This med I think has cause more harm to my body in the last 3 years. BTW I have hypothorid which because worse when I started regular sub use. I don't want to feel pain from sugery. Maybe I am over thinking it. I don't really like pain pills, I don't want to be in pain. My connective gum tissue sugery was bad. I ended up giving my pills away (which is a no no) and didn't take but two. I HATE SUBS, I HATE THE TASTE. It never really disolves anyway. I may get 4mg out of 8mg strip. I end up washing it out of my mouth because of the taste.
I want off for good. My withdrawl from sub is mental, never anything more. I usually can't sleep. The most I have been without sub in the past 3 years was for 15 days. Again this was subutex. I can skip subs for 3 days no use and be fine, but then anexity hits. that is my problem.
Maybe, it is so easy. I go in just get refills. I am almost like WTH. He was giving me 3 a day. Now he gives me enough for 2 a day. I just cut from 16 to 8mg no problem. I quite cold turkey one time before and only for two weeks it sucked and i was on subutex, which is much worse to come off for some odd reason. I took 2mg and ok, tomorrow I will take just stop. May not make it. I don't know. How did you get off. I did have gum connective tissue sugery a few weeks ago, took a two vicodens and they did nothing, so I just ended up take motrin 800 which worked. still hurt though. I want off the subs and I told him that. He said the summer was a good time. I asked him how long is one to stay on them, he said whatever... now that is just not good. I want to free from subs...
Is your plan to stay clean? Or just get off Subs so you can have a surgery and then take pills for pain relief? I am confused.
There is also no way around the horrid withdrawals from Suboxone. They usually don't kick in until 72 hours.

I am a former sub user. Was on them for 7 yrs and Omg...your sub Dr is totally wrong that its out of your system in 24 hrs. I had a hernia surgery in Nov, 2013, and told the drs I was on the subs. U know the subs have pain reliever in them and u can use them instead of pain meds. In order to get off the subs u will need to do a really slow taper and with the date of your surgery, that's not enough time. I believe u haven't felt the full affects of the sub w/d because it takes 3/4/5 days before the full effects come in. I'm quite disturbed that your sub Dr has such wrong information? U can have the surgeries as long as your honest with the surgeons. I used subs and motrin 800 for pain and it was totally fine. 3 yrs of subs for a 3 month addiction to pills is overkill, but my Dr kept me on subs for 7 yrs, so I wonder if we have the same Dr???? Lol
BTW, i am about 137 pounds and small and run... so maybe it goes from my system faster. plus i have hyper thryoid and my medtibolism is very fast now, but they have adjusted my meds. Half life is confusing. A week of hell for sugery :(
I just took 2mg. I never really have a problem going to 2mg. So I got 45 norco pills for sugery ready. I wanted something stronger, but I didn't want to tell the Dr. I was on subs. When I was preggo in hospital they were so judgemental. I actually was ok on morphine pump and took 4mg for sub the morning before. It was when they took me off the pump that I had trouble with the perts. I had to take 60mgs just to get the pain go go away. Sub *****... i want off it completely. There is a way to override sub in the system but it requires large doses of reagular pain med. That is the only way I survive my C-Section :(
You need to be off the subs for about a week before you
will get any relief from the pain meds. I know because I had a knee replaced and nothing helped the pain for about a week and it was horrible. My sub doc told me two or three days but that was not enough and I had tapered way down before I went off. Best of luck to you.

ugh, this is truly the problem with this drug. You have to stop cold turkey to have sugery if you need to take pain meds. I really had not real addicition to pain pills. I used for two months while pregant. I think at most I would take 6 10 pers a day, then go days without them. I just couldn't risk being pregnant bouncing all over the place. Subutex was way better for me and I needed only 4mg and if I took more, I got sick. With suboxone, I do 3 strips and it would not make me sick. This is very powerful medcine and I view it as just as evil as other addtitive meds.

Maybe cold turkey is the best way at this stage. Clonidine will take the edge off withdrawals.
The withdrawals usually last up to 10 days or so depending on many factors.
Dont dwell too much on the past, try focus what you can do to help your surgery and getting off the subs.
If you try not to stress too much and ask about clonidine to your doctor, i would get that and jump.
