great if done rite and not takn to long and tapered down on a pretty rapid rate
Well I have to say that it did work for me, although it to presents its own set of problems in the end. I was addicted to methadone for years, I had quit several times only to relapse back into an even worse addiction. Ive always been able to manage the physical parts of w/d's, but staying clean is a lifelong process which is why its so hard. Now with my experience with sub the physical w/d's werent as intense, but the mental aspects were just as tough as quitting any opiate. In alot of cases many people who are addicted to shorter acting opiates(vicodin, perc's, norco etc.) who choose suboxone, may actually be making it harder on themselves. I started at 8mgs/suboxone daily, slowly tapered over 18wks down to about .25mgs before stopping. Had a rough 10-14days of torture before things began to get a little better. But the lingering issues I did have were depression/anxiety, cravings and lack of sleep that seemed to last for months. Ive been off of sub since Oct.20 2008, the depression and sleep has gotten alot better, while the cravings and sleeping problems are still ongoing. The basic point I wanted to make is that theres no easy way out of opiate addiction, especially the mental aspects of w/d seem to go on for a long time. If you have any questions feel free to ask, there should be others that can offer you their experience and opinions on the subject. Like cathy said if you check the health pages theres all kinds of information regarding sub, including some members experiences. Its a touchy subject, while Im not anti-sub, Im not really pro-sub either, its hard to determine what the right answer is. I hope this helps, good luck and take care.
