Suboxone and oxy withdrawal help

I am currently on day 5 of coming off of suboxone, oxy, and vics.  I took suboxone almost two weeks ago.  I was taking oxy and vics for a week before I quit c/t.  I, also, went back and forth for a while between sub and other drugs.  Not sure why....anyway I'm done now.  I thought that I could make it at work today on day 5, as I feel well at home.  I feel like I'm in a big fog and can barely walk.  I walked some this morning and some at work.  It is hot here in Arizona so I didn't last long.  Anway, I'm rambling  I've lurked quite a bit and noticed that gnarly and sara are great people.  I'm sorry to hear that you are having a rough time today gnarly!  You are a true inspiration.  Please give me some advise and let me know how much longer to expect the physical w/ds.  I thought I was done but.....they are back.  Please help!  Thanks in advance.

I'm currently on day 17 of my oxycontin and methadone withdrawal and I just want to congratulate you on making the first step towards sobriety. Day 5 was hard to reach I kno. That's the worst time of the whole thing. Considering uve made it threw the storm be pointless to turn back now I'm sure you learned your lesson that first week cause I sure did but  each day after will be a little better and a little better before you know it you will be free. If you have any questions please comment back love to help someone make it threw to the other side.

Thank you for your comments.  I still had to go home from work but I hope that it will be better enough to think and do stuff on Monday.  I sure as heck don't want to go back.  I'm not sure that I've ever actually made it past day 4.  So....NOT GOING BACK.  I hope to go to N/A meetings again.  I went while on sub, but it didn't seem right b/c I was still on an opiate.  I'm finally starting to feel free and it feels great.  Well....except for the upset stomach and lack of energy.  Any advice?  Congrats to you, too!

You made it through the first 5 days and thats great. Those are usually physically hard. Just keep going....the mental part is rough too but if u just keep on it does get better as days go by you think about pills less and just think about life and having fun. I feel you about the heat tho its 103 here in Va with a heat index of 110 or so. Its miserable..lol.

God it is miserable!  What can I do for the physical stuff?  Will it end soon?  I really hope so.

Vitamins work wonders and I know that marijuana is illegal but the magic it works on withdrawal patients are remarkable, gets your appetite up so you can eat and let's you escape from the physical pain. Which in reality is mental pain which goes to prove just how complicated the brain really is. Like devonlee stated uve done made it threw the worst part and make sure to just keep it in your head that the feelings I'm going threw are not permanent. I'm on day 17 of my methadone withdrawal and it feels like it never even happened. So it will get better keep your head up and surround yourself with positive energy and make this situation something u look back on in the future and be able to laugh about it.

I got some L tyrosine at GNC and take 2 in the morning.... then in the afternoon I take 2 more.... They say it can make you shaky so start with 1 I guess...it's on the thomas recipe. It's super hot here too but our winters are so bad I refuse to complain about the heat. If you can access a swimming pool, the sunshine felt good. My day 5 was yesterday and I went to a waterpark with a bunch of teenagers. It was like 115 degrees and sunny but as long as you wear sunblock and stay in the water, you might feel good.... I don't know, it really helped me.

Sun deff. Helps when your going threw wds, I kno you want feel like it but force yourself to get some mild exercise like walking in the sun. The more you can sweat the quicker your body will push out impuritys.

The more info I get and the more I hear from this forum, the more sure I am that I got over that hump yesterday sweating my butt off. Take advantage of this heatwave and get outside. won't take any work as you will find yourself drenched within minutes. be careful and stay hydrated. Good Luck! Keep swimming!

HI its really tuff to tell you how long this will take there are so many variables as a general rule sub used the way you used it only posoped your withdrawals it is ment to be taken over several months wile seeking out aftercare to build yourself up a strong foundation so you can stand on your own 2 feet when the time comes to get off it.....many people think it is a get out of jail free card and often feel great for seveal days after taking it coming off of pills it has a long 1/2 life but once it wheres off your subject to the oxy withdrawals all you did was put them off for a few days sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I dont suger coat it expect to feel like hell for about 5 days then you should start coming out of it the mental part can last longer and is much more difficult to deal with as a whole the forum recamends some form of aftercare for this it will really help out greatly N/A always comes to mind its free it everywhere and it works if you work it as addicts we need to change the very way we think and reason this requires training seek it out if you get it right the first time you only have to go threw this once good luck and God bless......Gnarly

This isn't my first rodeo unfortunately. I was seeing a dr for the sub and had been in N/A for counceling  then "relapsed" if u call it that. Istarted using oxy and vics mostly for the lastcouple months who cane from 1 person   I've decided that enough is enough with allofit felt bad within 12 hrs and I'm on day 6 nowin this early hour. Wish I could sleep though but it beats being sick

Congratulations on your 5 days.  The first week is the hardest.  One of the challenges that you may be going through is the suboxone.  It has a very long half life and will stay it will take a good week just for that to get out of your syste,.  It also depends on the amount you took and for how long.  The usual withdrawal from oxy or hydro is about 3-6 days.  Sub can last for weeks.  I ended up using sub for 4 years, looking back, it really helped me,bit it was a hug mistake to stay on it so long.  Hang in there.  See if you can get your GP to prescribe some clonidine, it is for blood pressure, but will he take the jitteriness edge off.  Hot baths are great for the restless legs.   I just relapsed on Tramadol after nearly 2 years clean and it took over a week with withdrawal from that.  Everyone is different.  I grew up in AZ, take advantage of the heat and take a good swim.  Exercise is good too.  All the best to you.

Ok that sux.  I typed a bunch to u on my phone and it was deleted.  Long story short...just ran, I have wd from trams as well, took sub and then stopped really using it a month ago when I was on a quarter and replace with oc/Vic. Can't believe my dr prescribed 60/month. I had so much that when he quit I could have kept taking it. Flushed 60 of them along with trams.  I kind of knew it was over so when I met some one with shorter acting stuff I switched. Yeah, I guess a step back but i feel like the love affair is over so to speak. Finally ready. The last couple months back chasing it to get it was really annoying. So here I am at day 6 and hope to keep going. Hope all is well with your wd. Trams depression was the hardest which is what got me back on other opiates b4 sub. Geez. I'm determined to make this the last time. I'm going to my councelor next week and likely a NA meeting. Take care and enjoy the heat!

You are doing really well.  I am on day 10 or so from the Tram and it was the worst withdrawal I have ever been through.  The anxiety and especially the restless legs were the worst.  I have RLS already and tkpake Mirapex, which works well, but not in withdrawal.  I got some Rylans Leg Crmp formula at Walgreens.  It is all natural, and found that it worked quite well.  I also spoke to my addiction doc who did my detox from sub 2 years ago the other day and he mentioned that the medical community does not understand why the withdrawal syndrome is so bad with tram, except for that it also screws with serotonin and norepinephrine, so that could be why it drags out so long.

Having gone through several withdrawals myself (unfortunately), I can tell you that tram was the worst.  You will probably note that your sleep cycle is a bit messed up, I have been up at 4 am for the last week, but slept until 9 this morning, so I think I am finally over the hill.  The biggest mistake you can make is to take any opiate right now.  Even if you are feeling good or just a bit on edge and think it might help.  It won't.  It will put you right back to day one.  Stick with it, you are nearly there.  Get some exercise, take a good hot bath, drink plenty of fluids (without alcohol LOL), and you will feel better.  You will find that each morning does get better.  Take some time for yourself to relax too and don't dwell on how crappy you may be feeling.  NA is great support to.  Stick with it and keep posting.

I am at the beach, but will be touching base later.  Have a great day.

Thanks for the advice. Tramadol wd almost drove me crazy. It actually gave me worse rls and anxiety from what I remember. Day 6 is almost completed. I went down to a family event with my wife and daughter. I actually could smile and laugh and feel natural endorphins. That was nice. The run this morning helped a lot which I'll have to keel up. I listened to eminem this morning and his song about getting clean was inspirational. It's called not afraid. I was pretty good all day with my mood. I'm kind of getting cranky now. Maybe just need to chill after 3 hrs driving, running, inlaws, and my three year old kiddo. The weirdest thing this time and I may have said this already but I'm not craving. Just want to feel normal again.  The natural endorphin rush that I felt today was super nice. Hope u had. A good day at the beach!  I'm jealous:). Keeping busy definitely helps once the acute wd is subsiding. I just really need some cheerleaders. My family deserves better. I think that this site really shows that addiction touches all types of people with different socioeconomic backgrounds. Like many Im educated and have a lot of responsibility at work. However, all work places will survive a week without you there. I'd even trade a job to rid myself of this terrible problem. I can tell anyone who is on day 2 or 3 that things will get much better. Take care...hope to hear from everyone.

Glad to hear that you are doing better and starting to "feel" again.  That is the best part following the acute withdrawal.  I think that I am fairly well done with mine, thank God.  The RLS was impossible, and I know what you mean about feeling cranky.  But, it sounds like you are on track.  Not to get personal, but sex is also an awesome endorphine released.  It is amazing how much different it is clean vs on the meds.  Chemistry in the brain is a strange thing.

Had a great day at the beach yesterday.  Tried water skiing.....that was a laugh.  I am 100 pounds heavier than when I was a kid and did that and I could not even get out of the water, but I tried.  Pulled a nasty muscle in my leg, but it will be fine in a couple days and I had fun trying.  Today we are going to enjoy the sun and just relax.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
