Suboxone detox

Hello every one I am just now joining the website and I am scared to death... My husband and I have been on methadone for years and have now been on suboxone for almost 8 months. Our doctor just all of a sudden decided to retire, and as of tmrw we will have no more suboxone. We both have been taking 4mgs daily for about a month we were on 8 mgs daily. We didn't have talons to taper down like most say to do bc of the sudden retirement of our doc.... What do we do to get thru this?? What will help us get thru? We have two small children and can't be in the bed sick... I really wasn't worried about it I was telling him it was all in his head that it couldn't be as bad as the things weve already been thru, but I'm not so sure now... Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated. Just thinking about it I'm already starting to sweat :( please help

I'm sorry for your situation, it sounds like you don't deserve this. You've come a long way. Stretch what you have, as maria suggested, it could be the time needed to find an appointment. Sub withdrawal is not as bad as methadone, and takes longer to hit you. You have a little time. Don't get too anxious, the mind can create withdrawals that aren't real. Hang around and keep us posted.

I'm very sorry ur having to go thru this! I too am on suboxone and if my Dr retired and left me with nothing I would b petrified!! WD from suboxone isn't fun at 1 mg let alone 4 mg. I would try anything to get ahold of him, call pharmacy, go to the suboxone website and u can look up every Dr in ur area. Call every one of then ask if they take insurance and tell them ur story. Also if u go to the er they should help u. They can give u things to help with WD. Also just a suggestion instead of taking 4 mg tomorrow try taking only 2 tht way u will have some for Tuesday. Yes u may feel a little crappy but NOTHING compared to what u would with out it. Tht way there's an extra day for u to b well to find another Dr!!! I would 100% split the does in half to save some. If u only take 2mg u won't feel terrible at all u may even feel normal. Good luck! I wish I could help u more. But I'm here if u have any questions at all!

I have another idea...Try calling the pharmacist where you filled the Sub rx originally. He or she will know who else prescribes in the area and may have a better way to get in touch with the retiring physician...it's worth a try. I've found that pharmacists are a wealth of information and can be very helpful, especially in a tough situation like this...  I live in a large city now and I've worked in the ER here. The doctors here will always write for Suboxone because they can call the pharmacy where the original was filled and get everything verified.     Don't worry yet!  And keep in touch...

But I will keep trying and thanks for the help and any more ideas are very VERY welcome.

Oh boy...keep trying to get someone there at the office. Try going in person on Monday, as well.

You'll be okay tomorrow, of course, and on Monday due to the long half life of Sub but I worry after that...As I said, 4mg is high to CT from and you really need another RX ...which we can't provide obviously...Do you have an urgent facility or ER nearby?  I know they would help you or at least I'm pretty sure...

Our last dose will be in the morning. The doc said he would try to help find a new one but hasn't and has told us to call and he would help any way he could but we can't get in touch with anyone there. I'm scared and that doesn't really happen to me... I really don't want to end up back where I was I couldn't afford it even if I wanted to... I honestly don't know what to do. Can't afford a doc that doesn't take insurance and no one does around here

This isn't a good situation and no one here is going to be able to help you because what you need is more Suboxone so that you both can properly taper off. 4 mg is a high dose to cold turkey from and it's pretty unpleasant.

What have you tried so far to get an rx?  It's just wrong for the doctor to just drop you...it's very unusual that there's no other doctor to help with prescribing.  Try calling other doctors in your area. Visit an urgent care clinic. Try the ER as a last resort.

When did you last take a dose?
