I completely agree with Henry, I have been on the subs and I am clean from taking 30+ norcos a day...i had a 3 yr long spree on pills and now can say i have 76 days clean thanks to me and the subs. It definatly made me physically capable of moving and being active during my first week off pills, but mentally i felt everything, so i disagree with the statement that it takes away the mental aspect of the withdrawal, atleast in my case. I had to start a anti depressent after about a month because i noticed i was extremely down, and i knew i was depressed it runs in my family, plus all the crap i have done to my body/brain....but yeah i just wanted to put my two cents in.

Suboxone has an opiate of it's own that it releases into the body. It is true some people are able to stop taking suboxne with minimal effects. Just the same I know of many people that found them every bit as hard to detox off of the as well. The chances of simply trading one addiction for another to me is not worth it and quite honestly not necessary. The way the original question was posed, to me, seems they were wondering if you can get high off of it. I use to ask the same type of thing when the doctor would switch me. I know a drug seeking question when I see it. However, I'm glad it did work for you @ Henry. Truly a miracle people like us are even alive. Great work my friend.

Actually, suboxone does halt both cravings and wd's from full opiate agonists. The reason why suboxone works so well is from several aspects.  It has a strong agonistic capability which causes it to partially activate the Mu (Opiate) receptors. It is also suspected to activate Kappa receptors on a partial level as well.

Another side is Buprenorphines high binding affinity on the Mu receptors... meaning it sticks to them more so than other opiates, and actually has a repelling effect to any other opiate- creating a bloackade effect while still keeping those receptors active.

You will not receive and type of energetic or amphetamine like effects from using suboxone.  The "Energy" that you often hear of from the members on suboxone comes from the new way of life.  While on our DOC's, we were often very unproductive, usually in a nod, and had no motivation to do much. Once begining suboxone, that all begins to lift, as suboxone doesnt produce those euphoric effects.  So its not energy per se from the subs, its our normal energy that was masked by our drug use.

I felt amazing while on sub, amazing in the sense of I could see my old self coming back through. It gave me the chance to focus on the things in my life that needed fixing, while not being in a drug induced fog!  I am over two months off the suboxone, and am still feeling great- Its awesome to have my own energy just from waking up from a night of good non drug induced rest.

suboxone will stop much of the mental wds from Opioids but do nothing for the physical wds which in my experience is the worst by far anyway.

Let me be very clear. Do not play with suboxone. It can be deadly.  The contents of the pill is two fold. Buprenorphine is in a class of medications called opioid partial agonist-antagonists, and naloxone is in a class of medications called opioid antagonists. Buprenorphine alone and the combination of buprenorphine and naloxone prevent withdrawal symptoms when someone stops taking opioid drugs by producing similar effects to these drugs. You put it under your tounge. Junkies die from attempting to inject this drug. Do EXACTLY what your doctor says in reguards to this medication if you choose to take it. My opinion, as for Opioids cold turkey is your quickest recovery. I would never waste my time or increase my misery with suboxone.

And you really don't get a jolt it is not meth or anything like that if you wanna get high get a coke-cola and that is a jolt or a cup of strong coffee.

You are not goin to get high they have a ceiling effect,  so if you take one you may feel a little pep for a min or two and if you take 20 more you will never get any more buzzed then the first one, and if you overdose it is not goin to be pretty and you very well could overdose and i really don't think you want that.kitty.

No. It blocks the opioid receptors so the taker does NOT become euphoric from opioids. If you asking for you just stop the crap and quit taking the meds.
