Suboxone feelings from the community to help with Codeine withdrawal???

Question

Suboxone feelings from the community to help with Codeine withdrawal? I have been taking like 1/4 - 1/8 the recommended dose as read on the package ( was given to me by a health care worker friend of mine that was horribly addicted to codeine 4-5x worse than me... AND it is like a small miracle taking care of the w/d pain... Am I ok in the communities eyes?

I would say that using suboxone for a mild codeine addiction would be the equivalent of pole vaulting over mouse droppings.I hope you don't stay on it for too long

Truth on! My buddy in FL gets like 120 Lortabs a month because he has a bump on his pinky from when he broke it years ago... The amount he gets is from him BSing the doctor how much pain he's in... Funny thing is that he takes some (less that 1 a day most days) and sells or trades out the rest. How you can get that many, do them, and sell them is amazing to me. Granted he drinks ungodly amounts of alcohol and maybe that's why he doesn't want to up the pill intake because it would kill him even quicker. He uses the addictive power of the pills to create slaves that will do anything he wants to get them. Sickens me how corrupt a world we live in...

At this point in America, I think most addicts where given opiate and opioids for a legitimate reason at first. It's an epidemic, but I believe it's going to change soon. The word is getting out about the house wives, lawyers, doctors, business professionals, I mean everyone is getting into the snare. I'm glad you're keeping that positive attitude and taking responsibility for your part, that's all we have control over. 

That's great to skip 2 days, and lethargy and some anxiety are some of the symptoms that are hard to completely avoid while getting off any pills. You'll be fine in just a little while longer. Isn't that exciting. Stay away from opiates, it gets harder each time you quite.

None for 2 days now... Feel a bit lethargic but overall not too bad. Had a few Aleave during this time and it's helping. WILL NEVER TAKE VICS AGAIN! Would like to tell that first doctor that gave me unlimited supply what his treatment did to me... but it's my fault, not his. I wonder how many people have to go through this hell just because they were in an accident and just did what the doctor told them to do? Sad.

You might try taking 1/8 sub next time, that's approx. 40mg of morphine, you may find that works just as well. Subs take 21 days to leave your system, so you still have some from you're other doses. Skipping days with subs is a good idea because of that. You sound like you're doing great. Keep it up, you're getting closer by the minute.

I have not even thought of the pills in 5 days and didn't take the sub yesterday either... looking to see how long the subs effect lasts cuz I know the aches will come back to some extent... I was taking vics for over 4 years. Not taking a whole suboxone, I'm taking one 1/4 a suboxone only when the W/D's hit. It helps dramatically !!!  I'm almost over the physical stuff and I'm too strong a person (these days) to fall back due to anything mental. I have removed all traces of the pills from my life including people and friends related in any way to pills. If some follow my lead, we could be friends again... if not, Bye!

I don't think suboxone is a legal way of getting high one bit!! I'm on suboxone bc I had a 15 bag of heroin a day habit and when I take my suboxone I feel NO high whatsoever... I feel if ur on a very strong opiate suboxone will work to get u off but if ur only taking 2 perk 5 s a day then it would b trading one addiction for another. Subs do help a lot of ppl including me .

I think it will work good in the application you are using it. I followed the schedule of a doctor who will not prescribe subs for more than 21 days. It worked for me when nothing else did. Congrats on getting your life back.

Understood... As I was given these meds as a "last resort" for the W/D pain and the fact that these are the script of someone else that doesn't need them anymore since she is now free from Hydro addiction (I only have 3 strips which I cut into 6 doses and my wife and I are sharing them) This is not an option for long term use or to get high... This is my attempt at a "Taper" plan. I quit the Hydro cold turkey and waited till the W/D symptoms were pretty bad before even using 1 mini strip and it's working. Almost zero pain and anxiety. I will only take one if the W/D's creep back in and it's been 28 hrs since last strip (I'd take 2 or 3 vic's up to 5 times a day)  Last pill was Sat 26th at 1:00 pm and have not even considered hunting any down. You can't tell how high suboxone gets you until you are clean from everything for awhile. As little as 4mg block as much as 80% of the emotional center in the brain, just be careful. If you must use it, don't use it longer than a week or so. Buprenorphine is a lot stronger than codeine and extremely physically addictive. It takes 21 days for your last dose of sub to leave your body. If you do get addicted to it, it will be a lot worse than codiene withdrawal. In Scandanavia and all across Latin America subs are used to get high more than amphetamine, cocaine, and heroine combined. That is the info for suboxone, not methadone. Good luck and be careful.

That's not the info for Suboxone ( maybe Methadone...) I read on Wikipedia.
Cold turkey is fine but I have tasks I need to accomplish these next couple of weeks and can't afford to be crippled. Yea it's my own fault, but I could not get addicted to Suboxone because I don't get "high" on suboxone... I don't find them pleasurable, just a way to suffer less while kicking the Vicodin. I think rehab would be a little dramatic in my case and if you are going for a whole year... then I doubt my problem even shows up on your radar.

I honestly think suboxone and methadone is a legal way of getting high and the state knows that and is ten times more addicting and ten times worse to come off. I would say cold turkey or mabye a good rehab like i am going to in a few days. Church of God rehab in Pennsylvania for a whole year. Its more or less tough love there but it gets u right and ur heart.

I do not have immedate plans for that. I have no ill feelings towards any care program specifically, I have a determination that is now backed up by my wife (who was also right there partying with me) and we both have seen people in our lives that were destroyed in every sense (money, family, death) by addiction and we have had enough. I know talk is cheap... but this IS different. I will not count out the possibility of treatment (I went as far as to look up the meeting places and times) if for whatever reason I do take one more recreational pill... hell, even if find myself taking one legit for some medical reason, I will seek outside help. I want to prove to myself that I am a Grown Human Adult MAN and as once before I ever took ANYTHING in my life, I can be my own master and regulate my actions for my best interests. Peer pressure and what other people say or think about me I could give a @#$% about. That wasn't always the case in my early years. I like being sober and clarity has it's own kind of "buzz" that I am enjoying much more as I get older. :)

Are we talking about codeine or vicoden?The equivalent to vic is 1.2mgs of bupe=30 mgs of vic .....Hope this helps.....Oh yeah are you adding some aftercare ......A/A N/A  meetings?

I really dont like the way the sub makes me feel dizzy but it's far better than the vic w/d. I appreciate the breakdown of the sub to vic ratio since I am kinda (well, no question about it!) doing this unsupervised. I will take both your advices to heart and only use the sub for "emergency" situations. I think my willpower is 100x what is has been in the past because of worries finally about my health and these days, finances. Good Luck to you and yours also.

Just trying to quell the w/d i'm experiencing after 4 yrs of Vicodin add. I'm glad you dont consider that a "large" addiction (10 pills a day for at least 1 1/2 yrs) The woman who gave to me only gave me 3 strips of 8mg and I have cut that into 8ths... (she took 25 pills a day at one time) I just want to get over the psych of taking the vics all day.    2     1mg  slivers keeps me fine all day and have not even thought about pills... I guess your note has brightened my day...Thanx!

1.2 mg of bupe is equivalent 200 mgs of codeine.So i guess it depends on how much codeine you were taking.I agree with ricart try not to stay on it too long.I also agree with the pole vaulting part......Couldnt have said it better......
