Suboxone for Tramadol Addiction

Someone posed this question last night, and I never saw an answer. This is mostly for my own curiosity, but others may benefit. Is Suboxone available for Tramadol, Ultram, Ultracet addiction? I know it's not seen as an opiate in the general sense, but we all know it acts like one. Just curious..

I don't know... but I've been taking 40 tramadol a day for the last year at least... been on it for 6- and even if I take a 12mg sub I'm still sick with brain zaps and nausea/vomiting. .. so it may be pointless

I saw a doc yesterday for tramadol problem.  Tried and failed numerous times to taper and failed.  The doc gave me a rx for 30 sub's and my induction is friday.  He said it works for a tramadol addiction.  However, I am havin second thoughts after meeting with him.  I wanted to use the sub to do a detox off of tramadol.........a very short and low dose of sub to ease the trauma of a tramadol w/d.  Thid doc has other ideas......he said he would keep me on it till next spring.  Something tells me this is not right for me........I think I'd rather go cold turkey off the tramadol than take sub all winter and then still have to detox (maybe an even tougher detox!)  He also said he would help me get off the tramadol with other meds........clonidine/klonipin, sleep aids etc....  I have about 20 tramadol left and I don't want to refill because I just want out of this nightmare.   Anyone with experience who would like to share their ideas?  For me this tramadol is tougher to kick than my experience kicking fentynl, oxy or percocets..............I have done it twice before with the tramadol. I know I am in for a tough ride.  Would sure appreciate any feedback.  Thanks.

Avisg is right.  Even though Ultram is addictive... I can't see any Doctor prescribing a scheduled Narcotic to get you off a weaker non scheduled drug.  (Not saying it's right, just saying......)

That's what I was thinking. I bet sub would work for it, though. I know they acted very similarly with me..percs and tramadol.
