Suboxone help!

Does anyone know anything about Suboxone? My best friend was on it a few times before. She relapsed and is trying to get back on it. She knows she has to start taking it when she is in mild withdrawl but when she does take it it only seems to worsen the symptoms and the only thing that can relieve her is opiates. Does anyone know why this is happening? And what should be done to prevent it?

I was responding to your original comment to lynn19 where you stated. I'm not going to type it you wrote it read it again. MY suboxone is prescribed by a pain management DR. I am not going into my diagnosis with you or my need for breakthrough medication. I have been on the suboxone for 6 months and have only had to use the actiq once. And it does over ride the suboxone and naloxone. You have been around long enough to know the naloxone is in the bup as a diversion for shooting it up. Did you even take the time to check out the website I mentioned , I am not the only one on this Forum that knows about the samsha guidelines on pain management and buprenorphine. Your statement on taking 10 suboxone for the purpose of testing your theory is absurd!

I have never known a drug like this before (suboxone) it has 20 ways to take it.....it does this and that but don't do this or that......
I have sat down and talked with an addiction licensed doctor  and read all kinds of literature from the doctor and off the Suboxone websites.........
Everytime I think I have it down someone tells me I'm wrong about this drug again..........

Is there any guidelines to this medication or every doctor has his own set of rules.......

Or are you saying that the naloxone in the suboxone won't put you into detox if you take like 10 suboxones..?

You are wrong, my pain management M.D. prescribes me 120 8/2mg of suboxone and actiq as a rescue medication, Let me tell you the actiq breaks through the sub without putting me in withdrawal at all. When the pain episode passes in 1-3 days. The next morning I just take 2, 8mg of suboxone. The naloxone for one less than 2% of the medication gets into the system sublingualy. If you were to crush the suboxone and use it by IV your right you would go into withdrawal. If you need proof go to pcssmentor.org,.Before the aqtic I was getting #90norco as a rescue medication. ---NOAH

Suboxone has a second medication in it called naloxone and if you take to much you will go straight into detox......you can't try to get high with this medication........

If you use a narcotic while on Suboxone the naloxone will block it and send you to detox.......

If you use Suboxone you have to be clean including benzo's everything...

First of all what dose of suboxone is she on, As she has been through his before she should now by now what she is doing wrong. Number one you don't wait until your in mild withdrawal. You take it as directed, If the DR. says take 8mg twice a day you don't wake up your own dosing schedule without first running it by the man in charge. Are you talking about morning signs of mild withdrawal or they just pop up at any time of the day, If I were to guess I would say she is using both opiates and suboxone, Suboxone is only a partial opiate antagonist, Which blocks about 85 % of the opiate receptors. You can move the receptors with a strong opiate such as heroin or oxycontin to achieve a short lived high, The suboxone should block the kind of euphoria from full opiate agonist. But everybody is different and I know of people who use actiq for a few days a week and then go back to the suboxone the first day a double dose in the am followed by their regular dose the rest of the day. Your friend has been on and off the sub now to know all the tricks and I suspect she is using once or twice a week, or her dose is to low or it also could because she is not taking it as directed you don't experience withdrawal if you are taking the proper amount at the correct intervals. If this drug is causing her symptoms of withdrawal why would she keep coming back? How long was she able to stay clean when she finished the suboxone and why did she stop? Instead of turning to opiates when she claims the sub is not working why does she not try and take another 2 or 4mg of sub. This whole scenario seems a bit out of the norm!-----------------NOAH

Well to begin with she needs to have a dr.  I went though a suboxone study with dr. and counselors etc.  And when you come off of suboxone, tapering down i definitely had major withdrawals for over 2 weeks.  Your friend cannot do this alone.  She needs professionals helping her.  I am hoping and wishing and praying for the best for her.  Get to the sub doc.  TJack
