less is better...if u can look in my journalk there is a comparison of sub and its strength to other narcotics..i want to say 1 mg of sub is equal to 15 mg of oxy but not sure...it is in my journal and again everyone responds differently and a doctors care is good...but i am a bit skeptical with what i have seen them recommend for people..i am not sure of some of their intentions...they just about killed a friend of mine who was at 150 mg of oxy and gave her 16 mg of sub..she was out for over 24 hours and it took a couple of days for her to get out of the fog....small amounts and then titrating to what feels good for u is never worng..if a doctor prescribed u 30 mg of oxy 4 x a day...and u did not need that much...and u werent an addict...would u take that much?  he would not want u to..he would want u to take enough to feel comfortable

We have no way of knowing how much sub you would need that is something that a doctor needs to tell you .Look around for a good doctor do alot of research then go see a sub doctor he can answer all of your dosage questions we can not.

If you are going to go the Sub route, keep calling until you find the right Doctor..

none of us can tell YOU what the "right dose" is.  even the doctors - the really good ones - have to try a little trial and error first.  but they will know better than anyone...

it's serious stuff.  but if done properly, can likely help you get off the oxy's.  that's a very high dose, so if you want to come off you should really, really do this supervised.

and while a number of people on here do not suggest Sub for the long term, some of us do.  it has helped me tremendously.... i personally have never had any issues with tapering down when it was time...

good luck.  again - please try to get the proper support in doing this, it's your best bet for success...

good luck to you,
mj

I just wanted to say ochooked gave you some really good advice if that is the choice you make, just have a taper plan ready to get off the sub meds. Its when you stay on them to long that you get into trouble.please keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

that is a hefty dose of oxy and about what i was taking...somedays less n some more.  i quit cold turkey.  it was he11 for a week and then got better slowly.  for sub you really need to go to a dr.  he can monitor your progress.  sub for most ppl is very difficult to get off of and the w/ds are worse than if they would have detoxed off their doc.  it is a great tool for some.  good luck on what ever road you travel to get clean......make sure to check out some aftercare.  it is very important to long term recovery.

You are asking the right questions and I really applaud you.   I hope you will read all you can from this site (especially the old posts) on Suboxone and the effect it had on these people.   For the dose of Oxy that you had, Sub was probaby a good choice.  However, let me tell you that all of the experience I have had with Sub says that each person reacts different to it.   The way to dose yourself correctly is to wait until you are in full withdrawal ---(if you don't Sub will throw you into violent W/D's) then take a small amount - about 1 or 2 mg --- then wait 30 minutes and see if you get relief.  If you are still in horrible W/D's then take another small piece.  If you just start out at a large dose, it will take away the W/D instantly but the result is you may get so hooked on it, that many people just change their DOC to Sub.   It is very deceiving b/c most do not get high on it  - they just feel normal.  Then they try to walk away from Sub and find it impossible.  It doesn't let go easily.  Most doctors either do not know the addictive power of it or do not care.  Once you have established the minimum amount you need to help you ease the W/D's then take that amount twice a day --- Begin immediately to taper ----  I stayed on Sub for 21 days (for a large Oxy habbit) but I still had severe W/D's for over a month after I quit.  I was down to only taking a crumb -- about 1/2 mg and it still wouldn't let me go.  I don't want to discourage you but just share what this stuff did to me and many others who post on this site.  The most important thing is to quit the drugs --- Life is soooo much better and there are so many reasons to quit -but you probably know them all.  You can do this but it will require some effort and realization that no one escapes without some W/D's --- be willing to go through them and you will get your life back.  Please keep posting and share your own journey -- it will help you and the others who come here.  All the best.

Only a trained professional can tell you how much Suboxone you would need, why are you asking if you have to get Suboxone from the doctor anyway??
Unfortunately, there are doctors out there who are opening private clinics that are cash only so they can make fast cash off of addicts, but there are also treatment programs that have structure and are highly qualified and care about your recovery. Most hospitals that have Addiction Centers would be a good place to look.
