Suboxone-so confused

I am currently taking three 8mg suboxone daily. Are you supposed to be taking them in seperate doses or once a day dosing? How should I start to taper? How much at a time? I really need all the correct info I can get about suboxone.

I have a doc yes. He is ok but i feel he might not know as much as he should about it. he tells me the body matabolizes it every eight hours or so. I thought it stays active for at least 24 thats where im confused. I have sever pain issues and read it helps for pain also. so im again confused. I started the sub because i didnt want to be on the meds anymore that i was being prescribed and thought i could deal with the pain. the first doc who gave me sub never told me u would get addicted physically to it and told me to take as needed.so that didnt help much at all. Im so confused and feel like im stuck now.

Just to give you my experience. I take 4mg twice a day. It is recommended to take once in morning. But I have chronic pain issues and my doctor recommended taking it in two doses to help with the pain. It has really helped my back pain. So for me I am considering weaning down to a lower dose and at that point I may consider staying on a low dose for awhile. There are so many schools of thought on how long one should stay on suboxone and, if weaned, how to wean. For me, I have been dropping 2mg then stabalizing for about 4-6 days on that dosage before dropping again. Everyone is different on what they can handle so some stabalize longer on a dose before dropping. My recommendation is do alot of research then talk to your doctor. I am fortunate that I have a really good doctor but that is not always the case. Good luck in whatever you choose. Best Wishes

are you getting subs from a doc? i would ask him/her if you are- otherwise if you google suboxone you will find some information on how to do a taper in 21 days (they say if you stop before or at day 21 the withdrawals are not as unbearable- who knows)
i was buying mine off the street and would take some if i felt the need - never at a specific time of the day or all at one time- but then again i didn;t have a doctor :)  good  luck

Docs are taught that sub is dosed once daily.....probably as much for breaking addictive behaviour as anything....need to get past the idea that taking another pill makes everything all right. Different schools of thought about the taper - - some Docs think that you should be on sub for life. A valid consideration for some. While others suggest a quick course (10-20 days) and a fast taper. Many Docs indicate that a dose over 16mg is too  high for most people. Its hard to find good information about sub since it is so new and doesnt have the track record that other meds do. But keep looking and asking.......
