Suboxone?

I'm new actually just signed up.......well as of friday no more lts for me. I have decided to seek help for my addiction not only for me but for my daughter. She is just a toddler, but I want to be around when she's 20. I am starting Suboxone therapy on Monday. Not looking forward to this weekend. I just wanted to know how quickly after my initial dose will I start feeling better because of a crazy schedule at work including some public appearances. I just don't want to feel horrible...Thanks for reading and replying.

Hi
I was on subutex for my pain pill addiction. The doctor insisted that I start at 8mg. PLEASE be careful because many doctors prescribe patients doses which are WAY too high - so therefore you get addicted to this which is a much much stronger drug than the one you were initially addicted to (no matter the amounts you were taking).
2-4mg is enough for a heroin addict. The drug is not more efficient at higher doses when you begin the drug. Reason I'm saying this is that as you mention you will be working and not stuck at home - I was given my first dose which turned out to be too high. And I found that I couldn't breathe very well! I'm not trying to scare you I'm only saying please try to take the lowest dose possible - you can always add more on if it's not effective after half an hour to an hour. But if you take too much then the drug is staying in your body for a long time so you'll have to 'wait it out' - not fun!
With this in mind, subs can help a lot of people very much! I personally wished I'd never started it because altho I was taking about 30 pills a day in active use, I just wished I'd taken time off work and just detoxed because after being on subs for just under two months, it took an entire month to get out of bed and feel somewhat normal again when I came OFF the drug!
Good luck to you - I thought I would share some truths about subs which some including myself only got to discover the hard way :( xx

You need to find a pain management doctor who can get you on subutext or suboxone.. they help stop the withdrawal from taking opiates. For me it worked immediately. I have a chronic back injury and the doctor prescribed me portables 10mg 4 to 6 a day. I got 150 a month. Initially I was on portable 7. I took them as directed. I started noticing when I didn't take them I would get sick flu like symptoms. I realized I was addicted. I immediately went to my doctor and that when he increased it to 10 mg. The withdrawals got much worst when I didn't take it. I realized he wasn't managing my pain he gave me an addiction. I called him after trying to go cold turkey and feeling like I was going to die. He prescribed me canal. That did not help at all. I confided in my boss, I was so ashamed. I would run out of portable and would spend hundreds of dollars buying more. My boss made some phone calls. I did as well to a drug hotline and the counselor told me about suboxone. I mentioned it to my boss. She knew a physician that could help me and got me in the next day. She saved my life. I felt worthless and I was so depressed. I am a nurse and I couldn't believe I became addicted to a medication that was supposed to help me. I knew that it was very addictive but I was always told when taken like directed I would not become addicted. The truth is if taken for 30 days straight to can become addicted. I am weaning myself off subutext right now with the help of my physician.

this double life **** takes a toll i know all to well. dont worry dear, within 1-2 hours of that bitter tasting suboxone dissolving under your tongue you will feel like a new woman. dont leave undermedicated though. some docs give it in the office at first, some send you home with a script the first day. if yours gives it in the office make sure you feel better before you leave, you should feel 80 to 90% better. just hold on.

I'm sorry its me again. Let me give you a bit of background as I see the other posters have. I'm a single working mother who 2 years ago had surgery and was prescribed 10s. Let's just say it spiraled downward from there. I would go through a 100 in 4 days. I don't know where you guys live but here I was spending 1200/week. I was taking 4-6 at a time. So....here I am now desperate for a glimmer of hope that I can end this double life that no one knows about. This has been going on for two years...my baby is almost 3 and I sure as hell am not gonna be a drug addict like my mom was. (heroin od at 34)...So I thought I would give you some insight. You guys are strong and amazing people. Thanks for the support.:)
