Substance abuse while pregnant I feel hopeless

I was prescribe MS Contin 30 mgs twice a day at 7 months pregnant and failed my urine test my dr knows about my substance abuse which I am clean now but he can no longer prescribe my MS Contin. I am in counseling for this however can I even go cold turkey off MS Contin and not harm my unborn child? I got through my drug use thanks to my ob and my substance abuse counselor but I'm scared about the withdrawls of MS Contin which I'm fully prepared but scared it will harm my child? Can anyone tell me if this is bad or will baby be ok? I'm not worried about me I'll be fine I'm worried about it affecting my baby I've heard that it is bad can cause major problems I want off all of it and in treatment but they said it's unsafe and I can't just stop at 34 weeks wanted to put me on methadone which I refuse cause I sm an addict and know it's worse than MS Contin. What should I do? Please help me I'm getting clean for my child so I can be a good mom.

It's dangerous to go through withdrawals and your doctor knows it. You've been through all of this before so you know what you need to do in order to be a good mother.
Get in touch with your councillor and doctor. In your situation, you need to follow the rules and do what they tell you.

This is your 2nd pregnancy where you were abusing pain medication. What happened the first time? Are you with the same OB GYN? I don't know what happened with the first child but if it is the same situation then you need to follow the same path. Make sense?

I know this is hard huna nd I know you're scared so keep talking with us. We are here to support you.

I was a meth addict been clean for a while now I was on oxycodone as well I have a degenerative disc disease but was misusing them so when I told my ob he put me on MS Contin temp to help me and we were going to wein down so it wouldn't be so hard on me or baby. I relapsed one time on the Oxy's cause I was in so much pain that's why he cut me off but he never said anything about what would happen if I went cold turkey off MS Contin so Im scared I'm calling him today to find out but I feel like a failure I'm depressed and trying so hard to cope. I hate myself for what I've done this baby deserves better but I want this chance to be a good mommy no matter what.

If I'm reading correctly, you were addicted to a different opiate...your OB gave you MS Contin to help keep you off the other drug, but cut you off when the other drug was found on your urine screen? I am not a Dr or nurse, but I believe withdrawal is most dangerous in the first trimester, but not ideal at any point. You mentioned methadone; I understand your concerns but maybe you should reconsider for the baby's sake. If you continue your counseling you could be more ready to come off it once the baby is born. Whatever you decide, please don't cheat yourself out of being the mommy you deserve to be...this little life is completely dependent on you, and I hope you will work closely with your doctor/counselor to do whatever is best for your baby!

You say you're clean now? What do you mean? You're clean now cuz you were cut off or you're saying you're clean because you quit whatever made you fail your urine test. Are you going through w/d right now? How long were you taking them for? Normally no w/d aren't good for the baby, but your doc cut you off and they should know that,so I think I'm missing something else here? Can explain more please? Like how long you were on them, what you mean by clean "now" and is this counsler for an old addiction and you just started up again?
