I am a pain management patient on 8mg of sub every 8hrs along with 300mgs Lyrica (neurontin) it has helped me after post op back surgery (infusion) before the surgery i was on 120mg oxycontin and 80mg Norco, The surgery relieved 60% of the pain but I'll have pain that I will have to deal for the rest or my life, The pain management dr suggested I try the sub and lyrical cocktail to see if I would get any relief, As I was sick of traveling 150miles every month for Oxycontin, Now I go every 3 months as refills are allowed on this medication and it also can be called in if need be, If you do taper do it very slowly, unless your going back to opioids, My doctor told me a safe taper is 2mg per week to prevent relapse. Not unlike any other treatment as long as it is needed and is effective in treating the decease. This could be months, years, or indefinitely. You and your dr will determine what is best for based on side effects, history, environment and many other factors.
Considered to be the most significant new treatment for opioids dependence in over 30 years suboxone alone is not the cure. It or any treatment can be effective with a complete treatment plan including appropriate behavior therapy. Go slowly out of treatment.---------------------NOAH
Not its not a controlled substance, it was originally for seizures, diabetic nerve pain, Parkinsons ect, was recently approved for chronic pain. I just got dizzy from it and had blurry vision, my doc said it probably has to do with my low body weight.. i stand and cut hair for a living and couldn't deal with those side effects. look it up.. its similiar to neurotin.
Good luck with the doc, if you have any questions just ask.. my email is in my profile as well.
I will meet with the doctor next wednesday and will discuss the best possible way and time frame to get off of the sub. I have heard of lyrica but what kind of side effects does it have>? it is a class IV controlled substance.
I asked because there are some new meds that have been approved for pain that are not narcotic.. Lyrica is one.. I was given it for my Fibromyalgia. It did start to help my pain but I couldn't deal with the amount of side effects versus the dose i needed to be on.. Fibro makes me med sensitve I am told by my doctor.. so I could not deal with the effects I got.. However there a tons of people that this has helped with pain.. just thought I would throw it out there.
when do you plan to stop the sub?? you said you were gonna have you doc take you off?
My Dx is Degenerative Disc Disease starting from the base of my neck to lower back, which causes the pain down my legs. The neck part is almost as bad as the lower back (LB) what they tell me is bone on bone and what disc I have left is pressing against nerves causing pain. Most people have somekind og degeneration mine was problematic because of running, hard labor, and contact sports like football and tackle ball with no pads. It has always bugged me but it compounded the matter about 3 years ago when I was in a head on collision.Your usual teenager stuff.
I am sick of having to plan my life around refills, or going out of town and not having dope. I am tired of meing tired. Though like most of us my pain is legit, however there its a very high price to pay for a little bit of comfort. Since after a while the pain meds don't really work that well and I was popping 2 or 3 with my morning coffee just to start my day. In short it's just time for me to give it up.
Well, I really don't think lowering the dose a little will make you go back to Roxi's.. have a more positive outlook.. And just cut a small amount.. like go to 14mgs 2x per day.. you are at 16 now.. that will only cut down 2mgs per dose and your body will not notice due to the long half life your other doses have built up in your system. Don't be afraid.. it really is easy to taper off this stuff with the long half life.. Have some faith.. you can do it..
Whats the diagnosis for your back??
why are you quitting sub now?
Well I was supposed to take 8mg 2 times a day but I had some trouble with the dosage so the Doc put me on 2 8mg 2 times a day 32 mg. I am afraid if I cut the dose I will be back on the Roxi's. I meet with my Dr. the middle of next week to discuss getting off of these. Though admittedly I feel great, I had a lower back epidural which seemed to take a good deal of the pain away, and am scheduled to get my neck done next month. But like everything else they tell me it dosen't last forever and I can only get 4 of them total before I start damaging the bone.
As far as sweating I too sweat a lot. But not like I use to when I was drug sick.

Don't worry about the w/d's. That will play games with your mind and right now you should be focusing on getting better. When the time comes you will taper, just like fladdict said, and you shouldn't have much discomfort. If you do then you probably tapered too fast.
Hey how are you.. I remember talking to you last time you popped in..you have been on it a week right?? At what dose?? Have you been tapering?? when do you plan to stop? It is a opiate so it can help pain.. doesn't for everyone.. seems to help only certain kinds of pain.
If you taper down properly you should have very mild discomfort if any when you stop.. I only had some sweating and chills and i think that was just from the Sub leaving my system.. it made me sweat alot when i was on it..
XOXO
