Sugar and Vitamin D

This is day 3 and the only food I can even think about eating is sweets, pies, cupcakes, what is up with that.

Also, I got blood tests at dr. office and was low in Vitamin D, any relation to my vicodin addiction? Will it help my mood?

I plan on going back to NA tomorrow, wasn't feeling up to it the last couple of days.

Saying my prayers, I believe Jesus is helping me stay strong. God bless you all.

Hi-

I get the sweet thing but for me its all about the carbs at 31 days(:
I talked to a detox doctor about ten days ago and he told me that an opiate user is very depleted in vitamins C, D, and iron.  I was/am anemic and am loading up on all vitamins.  Try to introduce lean protein to your diet (chicken, fish) and legumes, green leafy vegetables (when you can-it's hard until after 4-5 days)...Vitamin D is hard to get from food and unless you're blessed to live in a sunshiney place (not me)  You may have to take a supplement...I find Infrared saunas really help me as does exercising 3 times a day...Yoga, hikes...Try substituting the sugary foods with citrus fruit, apples, grapes-they satisfy the sugar and have more nutrition....Toast and peanut butter works for me too...

Hang in there and congratulations on making it to Day 3!

Its called a sugar rush the drug that you were taking is getting out of your system and the craving sugar is common among addicts so try to eat healthy food to.  And plenty of fluids.

The sweet thing is so common. I am not a sweet eater but I did have a thing for donuts when I got clean. Question---were you also drinking while you were using? I ask that because there is a high amount of sugar in alcohol and people who stop drinking often crave sugar.

Just keep an eye on your intake and exercise as much as you can. The cravings will subside. The exercise will also help you get through the withdrawal.

As far as the blood I really don't know that answer but I also found out I was anemic after I got clean and was lacking Vitamin D. My doctor gave me a supplement and it has been fine since.

Hang in there. It will get better.
