I am trying to get clean.... again.... and need support. I've been taking hydro on and off for 3 yrs or so. It's getting harder and harder every time I do this. I've never tried a support group and very shy so not sure what to do. I do love reading on here though. Thanks for this site. It has helped a lot.

just hang in there it does get better days 3 and 4 being the worst but you should continue to just tough it out. your dose was not that high so it should pass fairly quickly. I would not recommend suboxone or methadone to help with w/ds they are alot stronger and withdrawls can last alot longer and be alot worse. i did the cold turkey way and it was not easy but with self control and alot of will power you can make it. i was snorting alot of oc's and roxie 30's up too 160 to 180 mg's a day and by day four felt alot better. the no sleeping tends to hang on for awhile so bear with it. take lots of hot baths and advil for muscle pain. i know it seems so hard but everyone here is here to help you get through this. life is so much better off the pills and you will find this out. i hope you will have the strength to do this as it is sooo worth it in the long run. my prayers and thoughts are with you. post when you need the help through this hard and trying time.

My last one was yesterday morning. Last time I quit, I lasted 2 days. I've usually stayed with 6 to 8 a day. Anymore than that and I couldn't function normally. I've always used what I had, then when I ran out, went through the withdrawals for a couple of days. The worst it has ever been was when I had norco and it was BAD. This time was because I had back surgery 2 months ago and still hurt somewhat because I have a hematoma. But it's hard cause I need more than most for it to actually numb the pain. I do see a therapist because I've been on Prozac for 16 yrs and suffer from depression. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

support is a must in getting truly cleana dn sober for good..i finally realized that after treatment a year later...i would have to agree that it gets harder and harder each time you quit and then go back to using, its a vicious cycle that is by far way more powerful than any human being to ever exist. I thought I ahd control for a while, about 4 months and then I woke up without anything OC's or Heroin, and I realized who was really in control...I enslaved to opaites for 2 and a half years with no control at all...it will destroy everything in your life if it hasnt already...i lost my family, relationships, and all friends I once thought I had had. I lost everything. I am now in MMT(Methadone Treatment), go daily and get 105 mgs of methadone...I ahve been clean for almost 8 months now...you said you have been taking vikes for around 3 years on and off...how long has it been since you last used any amount?....and if it is recent enough to where you are now in withdrawals, how long have you been starting back using again? That will give me a good scope of the severity of how your withdrawals will be and what the best option for you would be. If you have been using consistently enough to where your wd's are very severe(more than 30 pills a day for longer than 6 mths.) I woould possibly recommend tapering down your dose for a month then go to a hospital or a clinic and detox for a few days, and start up with suboxone treatment. From what I got you use hydrocodone, which is a moderate potency opioid and definitely if used for a long enough period and in large dose addictive causing pronounced and painful mental and physical wd's. No matter how huge your intake was I wouldnt recommend that you start going to a methadone clinic or treatment, suboxone will definitely be strong enough to curb any wd symptoms and cravings you would have. It is long lasting(average half-life is 37hrs.) for most ppl lasting two days, and the active chemical is called buprenorphine and it is 30-40% stronger than morphine so it is a potent opioid. It does have a ceilign dose of 32mgs a day, you dont want to get any higher than that, if so it will turn into a antagonist which are used for opiate overdoses, it will give you extreme withdrawals. so it is chemically unique in that the lower doses are actually more effective and give more of an effect than higher doses. I would recommend 4-16mg, and I wouldnt go higher, no need...it wont do anything positive. the reason why I talked about detoxing before starting the treatment is because you need to be in moderate withdrawals whens tarting suboxone otherwise you will go into even worse withdrawals as the suboxone and the hydros compete for your opiate receptors in the brain and the suboxone is stronger and will put you into withdrawals, so you need to wait at elast 24 hrs. before yout ake your first suboxone tablet. You can get a months supply written by a prescription from a  certified doctor there are amny all over the country..and you can finally get off opiates completel, it honestly feels great to actually live life..you do need to really want to get off of the hydros otherwise no treatment method will work for you..prepare yourself mentally and physically, and during treatment go to NA meetings, one-on-one counseling, therapy etc. they are all crucial in staying clean..its tough, but it is doable..stay strong-christos
