Switching from Methadone to Suboxone

Hey all. I've been on 35mg methadone for 2 years and have to switch to suboxone for insurance reasons. The suboxone doctor just told me to skip one days worth of dose and come in "withdrawaling"... I'm scared that one day won't be enough and I'll go into precip withdrawals, but I don't want to go into full fledged withdrawal because I know I'll get high to alleviate the feeling and end up losing my job (I've been clean for the entire 2 years). Any tips? Should I just go in to the doc and fake withdrawal, get the script and then skip the methadone? I would feel much better knowing that I had something in case I really start to feel crappy you know?

Also, I gained 80 lbs on methadone, will I lose it when I switch to suboxone?

Hi snuggle. I gained ALOT of weight on Suboxone so I am not sure about how it will affect your weight. However PLEASE MAKE SURE you listen to the doctor about being in withdrawal before taking the Suboxone. It's not pretty at all if you don't!

I should add that ive had opiates in my system and taken a suboxone strip . I litterely started pouring sweat intense w/d symptoms! I strongly advise to be in w/d before taking suboxone strips.. im not a doctor and would say to talk to your doc and make sure its safe to jump off the methadone go into w/d then get your dose of bupe from the suboxone. hope that helps

based on what i heard in your post is that .. your switching to suboxone and the doc wants you to start the suboxone having gone a full day into withdrawl..if that is the situation it makes sense reasoning being when you take suboxone ( not subutex) it conrains Nalaxone and Nalaxone will send you into full withdrawl. So this is why u must be already in w/d to take it.. i hope that helps.. trev
