TAPERING OFF OF NORCO 10/325 PAIN PILLS

I have been taking a small amount of Norco 10/325, 5mg three times a day for many months. I reached my tolerance level months ago, however, I refuse to take anymore of this drug. I want to stop taking the Norco and am looking for someone to provide me with a tapering-off schedule to gradually detox myself off of this drug.

Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Stephen, I am unsure if there is a tapering off schedule for Vicodin. I was taking about the same amount as you are now for about 9 months and was told by my physician to stop taking it. You should probably speak to your doctor about it. Understand you will most likely go through withdrawals and they aren't pleasant but you have to keep in mind always that you want to feel healthy and strong again so you will need to just let the withdrawals happen (there are medications your doctor can prescribe to help you with the symptoms of withdrawals) and they will eventually pass and you will feel like you again. I am going through withdrawals myself so I know how awful they can be but I won't give up and I'll be here if you need help or just want to talk or vent okay?

Though it may seem ridiculous, it can definitely happen. I was taking about the same amount as you are now and taking it just about every day. Some days I would take a bit more, such as 1 entire 10mg and as of right now, I am 5 days without any of it and in deep withdrawals. It is the fact that you are taking it every day and it is building up in your system such as an anti-depressant might so as you said, when you don't take it, you feel sick and achy. You need to accept the fact that you are indeed addicted to this drug and you need to stop taking it immediately. Talk to your doctor about it and get help hon, please.

I have been on Norco (take less than prescribed dose as I know all too well about physical addiction) 10 mg at first, then i had a problem w/insomnia and the 2-3 Norco i was taking were making me very tired.  I asked my Dr if there was a lower dose, yes, 5 mg Norco.
I take normally 1 per day,, somedays 1 and 1/2,  i take them in 1/2 pill doses.  So actually on those days when i take 1 1/2  I'm taking 2.5 mg of Norco, many hours later the same, many hours later the same. That is not a high dose, and much lower then the Dr. prescribed.
I didn't want to get physically addicted to them.  Yet on those days I don't take any, I'm sneezing alot, have stomach upset, can't sleep.  Is this in my head or  can a  person actually be physically dependent on 7.5 mg of Norco a day?  it seems ridiculous to me, but it does actually happen.  I want to stop taking them because even 1/2 a pill  makes me feel lousy,
Will someone with experience please answer my question/concern?  I don't have alot (may be 20 pills left and haven't seen the Dr. in months, like i said, I don't take the large amounts he prescribes as I know better.  Thank you
