THINK IM DEF GOING THE SUBOXENE ROUTE

by chubbers, May 13, 2008 12:57PM
So I called my docotor today and i have a appointment next monday im going to ask him to put me on a anti depprasant and valium and im also going to see what he says about putting me on the suboxene we got liad off where i work and my end date is july 15th after that i lose all my health insurance so i have to do this now.  i have been struggling with trying to wuit for almost a year now. i have tried ct and tapering but neither has worked out. i am so sick of being sick and  im sick of ruining my life bc of these pills. they have ruined my marriage, they are now ruining my chance to be with another guy i fell in love with and they ruined my chance to have a baby well i still can but i couldnt go through with a pregnancy. all of this has been killing my soul and slowly killing me. i am no longer amy i am someone else who i do not know anymore.

i would definitely try the Sub if i were you. Youve been posting here a long time now and still in the same boat (and Im not bashing you, honest. Im just saying that youve been trying to taper/ CT for many months that i know of and it hasnt worked) So i would try the Sub especially since you will lose insurance in a couple months and its expensive medicine. Make an appt!

You can do this. Maybe all of this is happeneing now because its supposed to.

Its never too late. Try the sub, I really hope it works sweetie!

Remember, not all doctors are certified to prescribe Sub. so go to Suboxone.com and see if your doctor is on the list. Or find one near you. You don't want to wait to long if your insurance is gonna run out. Check out a few doctors and pharmacies as the prices will vary. But I guess if you have insurance that may not matter. Lucky devil you.lol
Good luck and keep us updated. I really think Sub will be your life saver.

Just remember Sub is also a pill. I was on it for close to 6 months and when I stopped, the WDs were horrible. I know I am not alone.
If you do go the Sub route, I hope you stay on it for a very short time. That should minimize the WDs.

Good luck to you.

I don't think you can take sub and valium together and why valium? I understand sub and andtidepresant but valium I don't know girl you really need to do something.

Good decision if nothing else works. I am on Sub but I am long term..........6 months. I agree with the others, try to do it short term if you can.  And definately try to find some aftercare. I am still looking for that myself as know it is an important step to stay well. And if you do decide to go the Sub route, remember that trying to jump off at too high of a dose is a recipe for failure. I am going down to slivers before I try to go off. These were the success stories I have heard. I have read so many failure stories and sub bashing due to people jumping off at 2 and even 1 mg. Just do as much research as you can and please try to read all of the experience stories that you can so you can make the right decision and prepare yourself and make a plan. Go to naabt.org. where you can read many experiences about the Sub. It is not a cure, it is a tool and you must use it correctly in order to be successful. My best of luck to you. Keep us posted.

Hey You !!!!!    I have been so worried about you.  Omg, you are making the right decision I think.  There is something called COBRA  I don't know if thats for just California, but other states I'm sure have something similiar, where you can keep your insurance for a year at least after being laid off or fired.  Check into it.  I am so proud of you darlin.....Please keep us (me) posted on what happens.  I think about you all the time, and want to see you happy.

Good luck, sweetie.....<3

Luv,
Nauty.........

I feel for you. Please! Go to a knowledgeable addiction specialist - they know how to do this. And take direction from the doc. Just throwing a bunch of pills at the problem is not a solution. Suboxone is great, go for it, it can be life-changing, if you use it as a tool, a supplement to a solid program of addiction recovery. Suboxone is pricey but I'm sure you're blowing all kinds of money in your addiction and the chaotic life that goes along with it. It will be cheaper in the longrun. I hope you follow through.  Please focus on the recovery process, not your relationships or other drama. Go to meetings - the women there will help you tremendously! I wish you the best. You can do it!

COBRA is a way to keep on your current plan. You do need to pay for it but at least your insurance won't lapse. Just make sure if you are sending funds to the ex-employer that they are indeed paying your premiums.
