Sobriety date is October 25, 2006 after many attempts to get off of pain meds (fentanly, oxy, morphine, perc, vicodin, lortab, dilaudid - all of it)  Also, have not had a drink since that day.  
The freedom I feel every morning not being a slave to pain meds is indescribable...

Going on 4 months, but did "cheat" recently for legit reasons. Turns out I have spurs, extrusions, and a possible torn disc.  Never knew it, because I was so doped up before.
After stopping a 12-15 NORCO a day habit almost 4 months ago,  I complained about  really gnawing back pain that seemed not to get better.  I tried to tough it out, but the pain sometimes was unreasonable. Still, I was proud to say I went close to 3 months clean and overall, I am still feeling better.

I feel under control for the first time in 5 years, and will NEVER go back to daily use, unless it is simply not possible to deal with pain in other ways.

First post in an while.  Hope you are all doing well!!

Currently taking Sub, on day 62 @ 4mgs a day. Plan to be off within the next couple of months, maybe sooner. Gonna try to taper asap, but even after I go through my w/d's I have to say suboxone really has helped me in more ways than one, and for me comparing it with methadone is like comparing weed to heroin, its really unfair in my opinion, however suboxone isnt for everyone, and I do think those on shorter acting opioids should try and try, try again to quit in other ways, because its probably an easier w/d than that of buprenorphine. Glad to see all the posts of clean people, and all of us who are truly on our way. So cheers to getting and more importantly staying clean and sober and have a happy successful life. Today is day SEVEN without any opiates.  I feel great.  I was fortunate enough to have very mild w/d symptoms, probably because I tapered down to just 2 percs when I decided to go c/t.

I still have back pain, and now I'm trying all kinds of natural remedies to cope.  Trying Cherry Juice, Vinegar, Olive Oil, Extra Strength Tylenol, heat, cold, patches, creams, lotions, etc.  It will be a challenge to stay of the pain meds since I still have chronic pain, but I can already tell that my mind and heart already feel so much better being "clean".

Today is day 3 for me, the diarreha is still with me, the pure weakness and I didn't sleep at all last night. I am hoping to get to the store and get some valerian, and try that, I have had restless legs for 2 weeks. I was on Morphine 15mg ER for a yr, and before that Oxy for 1 yr. I took one pill for 2 weeks and went cold turkey, I don't know if that was the right way, but I am not going backwards, I am done with the drugs. I just hope by weeks end I feel better.

I'm quitting Tramadol!  I'm at 9 per day starting tomorrow (Monday 30 Sep 2008).  I'm a week ahead of schedule.   WoooHooo!  I was taking upwards of 20 per day a few months ago.  So I'm half way to freedom!  The real hard parts are still to come for me though.  But I'm staying on track.  And I'm staying motivated!  This site helps a lot!  Thanks Avisg, you rock!

January43-new member-chronic pain patient w/ 4 years on OC and 5 years on methadone. Plus various and assorted breakthru meds whenever I ask for them.
Today is the 3rd day of many to come on my taper down to zilch.  I know it is going to be a long haul but I'm mentally and physically prepared for it.
