Taking Responsibility For Your Addictions

I have seen alot of posts lately where people are trying to justify there usage as someone else's fault .It took me a while but I finally realized if I wanted to get and stay clean I had to take responsibility for my addiction. It wasn't the doctors fault or my families fault or any other person ,place or thing. I could to try to blame my addiction on .It was me I got myself here .Yes there were triggers and things that had happened that made it easy to justify.
It was not until then that I could start working on getting better .I have come along way in 800 days but there are still things I am working on and will continue too

One of the things I have learned is every-clean day is truly special. That a positive attitude makes a big difference .

I hafta say that when I was using I was the ONLY PERSON making me FEEL THIS WAY... like poop!  I think that that was one of the determining factors for me WANTING to get clean... I was tired of making MYSELF feel this way.

Great post Avisg but your post is actually applicable to life...you are what you choose to accept; if it don't feel right, then it probably isn't.

Happy T-Day

Great post avis.  Taking responsibility for our own actions is the key here.  Without doing that you just keep spinning in circles.            sara

Avisg, you could not be more correct here.  Thanks for posting.  My addiction dragged on for over 20 years before I finally stopped making excuses and blaming others for my problem.  Like you indicated, I had to take responsibility - I wanted to quit and be clean - no one else does this for us.

Great post Avisg!!!!!!!!  I think one of the biggest most important steps in recovery for me was finally taking responsibility for my addiction.I caused it and I needed to do the work to fix it,and I continue to work my recovery every day,and just like you, 633 days later,I'm still learning and growing...All the best...Kim
