Taking Vicodin for abcessed tooth

Hope someone can help me.  Two & 1/2 weeks ago had tooth abcess (abscess).  Dentist gave Vicodin 5/500.  A few days later he did root canal & said root of tooth was cracked & would have to pull it.  Gave amoxcillin and more Vicodin so inflamation (inflammation) would go down & he could pull tooth.  At first I was taking 6-8 Vicodin/day for about a week.  Then got down to 4-6/day for several days.  Yesterday, very little pain & only took 1 Vicodin.  Today, 1/2 Vicodin.  I feel awful, anxious, weak, sometimes dizzy, low (for me) bloodpressure, just generally not good.  I am bipolar and take 50 mg. Lamictol & 1 1/2 to 2 mg. Ativan.  Wondering if I'm experiencing Vicodin withdrawal?  It worries me, because I have to have to tooth pulled in a week and will have to take more Vicodin again then.  Surely would appreciate any words of advice.  Thanks!

yes, what youre experiencing is opiate withdrawal.  It takes about a week to feel better.

Good Luck!

Yes it is and I would see if you can get threw the next time with out it or take as little as possible so U don't go threw it again ...Aleve is what I use for teeth being pulled .The funny thing as adults we think we have to have pain pains for so many things . I look at my son who had two teeth pulled twice because his baby teeth would not fall out .
He took nothing said it really did not hurt .Shows how overtime we get conditioned for pain

wow you are sooooo right. My son broke his arm. I mean it was a bad break.  He only had pain one day. Took tylenol and the next day did not have any pain at all and said he is fine
Go figure

I found out through a doctor who is retired that if you take ibuprofen and motrin together that you get the effect of a half gram of codeine. Its almost similiar, I did not believe him, he told me take 1000 mg of ibuprofen and 500 mg of motrin together and bigger than all get out it worked just as well if I took a couple of vicodin. It really does work and its so much cheaper, the walmart brand is the best. Good luck with your teeth.... gods speed,,
