Taking suboxon for 7years.

I have been taking suboxon for 7years now. I went to rehab 2007 for fentanyl patches, OxyContin, every opiate available and anything that I could get my hands on. I ws put on suboxon then and have been on it ever since. Now this dr that I'm seeing wants me off of it. I have been on 8mg strips for years and the he takes me off the strips 3 months ago and pit me on 2mg tablets. needless to say, it's been a hard 3 months. I would rather stay on suboxon for the rest of my life, than use again. And I know that I will. Isn't it better to be taking suboxon than taking opiates? At least my life won't fall apart, again......

Not to be a total materialistic weasel, but damn!!!! The $$ I was spending was beyond rediculous!!! I don't remember my sub Dr telling the insurance pts it could be lifetime, just us cash pay patients!
I hear ya Dixie it is scary, maybe start to taper them down a bit so it won't be so bad??? Slow and steady with the taper though, slow and steady!

Hello there. Well Subs are very contravercial ( not sure of spelling ).
Some are happy to be on them for the rest of their life if it works for them. Understandable !!!
If your scared of using again then subs will keep your head above water until your strong enough to do a detox.
But by the sounds of it, your now being forced off and this is probably creating a lot of stress and anxiety on your part.
Its a very long process to get off subs, and at times very painful and head messy.
But you have to realise some parts of comfort in your life, need to be adjusted sooner or later, and that thats ok.
Sometimes change is good, although disconcerting because of the unknown.
We all fear coming off subs, but then realise when we do, that were ok.
Just stay strong for your happiness and sake of a great life.
Like  Motye said, no more paying for subs and no more filling a script. No more relying on a med to complete your life.
We have been where you are and its not easy by any means, but its the most rewarding time of my life to get off subs and be clean almost 5 months later.
Good luck, im sorry you feel your not ready, you must have so many mixed emotions right now, but we are all here for you if you ever need a friend : )

Do you want to be a "slave" to subs just like you were on opiates?  I was on subs 7 years as well and quit Jan 1st, and yeah, it's hard at times, but I definitely think getting all of that crap out of my system was the right choice.  You know, this crap isn't supposed to be used for lifetime maintenance, at some point, we have to figure out why we can't accept life on life's terms.  Why do you have to have some sort of mood altering chemical always?  The subs were only supposed to be for 3/6 months, and while on it we were supposed to be doing counseling, N/A, etc... ( I didn't know all that crap)....Of course it's totally up to you, but my head, my family and my bank account, all would rather me clean.  Getting everything out of your system!
