sounds like you are doing pretty good! thats soo cool that you have someone that you can trust to hold them! i totaly understand the whole tapering thing. i was starting that process but now i am sick with a really bad head cold so i gave in yet again... but as soon as i am feeling better im going to re start the weaning process. what kind of anti depressant did they put you on? also taking a multi vitamin daily will help alot with getting your body back to normal. once you taper down to half of one a day you can break them into quaters sounds stupid but it works... i have broken 1 into 4 pieces and i made it last 2 days only takeing a half of a half at a time then you should be done =]  good luck to ya and make sure to check in

shannon,
what type of symptoms are you having ? if you are handling the taper and someone is holding your pills then that is great.you seem to be doing fine so good for you. and you even went to the circus. glad you had a great time. i think your sister is a keeper!!!!! you are keeping yourself busy and working and that is a good thing.
keep up the good work, keep the faith

thats what i was thinking. It's worth it to me to do it this way because of having 6 kids to take care of at home! I dont like to lie around for days in that condition. I am pretty determined but I know that can change so i will just keep surrounding myself with support!
And thank all of you for answering my questions. I appreciate it so much!

Ok, well just keep tapering.  Maybe when you get to the end it won't be too bad.  At least maybe you can function.  The AD that you started will help some, but it'll be a couple of weeks before you notice any improvement as far as depression.  Try to do some light exercise.  That helps a bunch too! : )

Well i'm tapering off the hydrocodone 10's from anywhere from 6 to 10 pills a day, however,I went thru almost three days of detoxing and withdrawls and the took a couple, now I'm only doing two a day! I have a very good and strong friend holding them for me and putting them on my porch late at night for the morning and I have been fine with it! I dont ask for more and just get thru the day without getting high off them anymore! i also started my antidepressant my doc prescribed!

yesterday when you asked about the dizziness I told you it was part of the withdrawal from tapering. Yes the symptoms get dragged out so you have the withdrawals longer from tapering but not as severe as cold turkey. I still would advice to flush and just go with it.

Yes, you can have WDs while tapering.  (if that's what you're asking?)  It may make it easier when you jump off at the end, but it also may just drag it out and make you miserable the entire time.  I could never taper.  I wanted it OVER and had no self control anyway.  If I had pills.....I took them.  Plain and simple!

What dose are you tapering from?  And are you tapering very slowly?

Hi & Welcome,

Some people are successful with tapering and find the withdrawal easier...some do not. There are other factors involved like age, general health, etc.

Tapering was always hard for me. One, the temptation was too great and two, I couldn't stand going through the withdrawal a little at a time.

Have you begun your taper yet?
