Thanks so much for Eveyone's Support

I have had no diluidid in 5 days and I am finally starting to feel human again.  I know that I have said this before to everyone I know and love but I am done with pain pills.  For something that was supposed to make me feel better, they ruined my life.  It has been a rough week but I know that I am strong enough to survive this - withdrawls won't kill you just make you think you are going to die.  But I know the diluidid will kill me.  I am going to meet with my dr and my husband says that he will come along if I am really going to stop using/abusing the meds.  As my dr is not a pain management specialist and I cannot afford pain management, does anyone have any suggestions that may work for management of the pain without narcartics?  I do have to admit that the pain is not as bad as I thought it would be (yet) but I am terrified of never having relief from the pain again...

HI jules..I got addicted to pain pills trying to stop ligament back pain ..it got so bad the pills quit working all together and all I was doing was abusing them and running out of my scripts early...the pain management place I went to put me on methadone as a sorta last resort kind of pain control....it worked for many years but I built up a huge tolerance to it and it quit working also...so I finely said enough is enough and weened off the methadone...today my back still has the same permanent ingerys but the difference is I no longer treat it with narcotics...and im in less pain today then when I was on 150ml of methadone...once your off the narcotics a wile you will find things like 800mg ibuprofin
actually work....your bodys pain clock sorta resets itself and you will find that most pain is manageable with nonnarcotic pain meds so give them a chance I know they did nothing for me wile I was on the narcotics but once free they began to work...good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

That is fabulous! Great job. I'm finding that for them most part, motrin and tylenol are helping. A good heating pad is helpful too. For the most part, I don't think my pain is any worse than when I was ON the painkillers. Which is weird! Keep up the great job.

Hi.  There are tons of medicines that are non-narcotic that you may try.  I would talk with the doctor about them.  He will know what is right for you probably.  Most of us find that after getting off narcotics that our pain is very manageable with OTC stuff, Advil, motrin, tylenol, etc...you will be amazed how these things work when you have no opiates in your system anymore.  But talk with the dr. to see if you maybe need anti-inflammatories stronger than Advil and such.

Congratulations on 5 days!  It may take longer than that for the rebound pains to go away.  Took me at least 2 weeks before I felt relief from the natural otc stuff.
Good luck to you Jules!!
