The best way to stop taking percocets!!

The best way to stop taking percocets!!

I need to know the best way to stop taking percocets. I have been taking pain meds for the last 2 to 3 years. It started with having really bad face pain that would cause the worst migrains. I went from dr. to dr. trying to figure out it all out. I have been diagnosed with myofascial pain syndrome and was put on vicidon. Then my lower back started killing my so bad I couldn't stand it anymore, I went back to the dr and I was put on anti-dpressants (I was also dealing with depression and they thought could be causing my back pain). The medicine helped the depression (finally after trying 4 different kind in a year), but not the back pain. I was put on vicidon and was on that for about a year and was taken a lot of those it didnt really work. She switched it to percocet 5/325, then it moved up to 10/650 and I have been on that dose for about a 1 1/2 years. I started off taken the dose correctly and found that I was ALWAYS in pain, the max dose is 6 per day and for awhile I was taken that many, there has been a few times I took up to 10 a day. I do try and take only when I need them but it has become harder and harder to do. My body requires more of the medicine to take the pain away. But I feel like I'm always in pain and the pain has traveled within the last 2 years to my legs, hips, tail bone, elbows, shoulders and the face pain. I'm afraid of being in pain, after I get off the meds. I still will have the issue of the pain in my body. I just don't know what to do. I feel embarrassed about my problem, I have my husband holding on to my meds  now as I try to tapper down. I just dont know if I'm strong enough to quit. If you could please give my some advise that would be greatly appreciated!!

Sincerely,
Lost & Confused

I would suggest getting with your doctor and ask him/her for the best way to tape down. Be hones with him/her  andl them know you wan off..some people have had luck with the Thoamas recipe (do a searc on here)..i found that going to my doctor and getting clonodine (a blood pressure med helps tremendousl)...FOLLOW THE DOSAGE EXCATLY OR YOU MAY FIND YOU LOWER YOUR BP TOO MUCH..they will make yuo drowsy, sleepy and dry mouth..keep a supply of hard candies around..secondly ask for script of a benzo (tranquilzer) AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS EXPLICTLY..THE ARE ADDICTIVE..BUT THEY ARE HELPFUL WITH THE ANXIETY..DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS AND GET REST..IF YOU CAN...the klonopin will help you rest..you can do this and we are here to help you;;;\

Jim..I'm sure others will be here to help you..

god bless and good luck..

I read your post and felt deeply for you. Once you enter that medically defined world of :"pain treatment" things can rapidly get worse and worse. I don't know how that happens or why only that I spreads and the focus gets narrower and narrower. I think at some point the person now patient starts to extricate herself from the situation. Remember who you are, remember the non pain you and somehow let that guide you. Consult with you doctor but also use your intuition. You can make your way out of this. It has been done by others.
