The pains i haven't felt in months

Went from 80-100 mgs/day hydrocodone down to 15 within a week. That last day at work (before I relapsed recently) felt like I was literally dying. I couldn't believe every single ache and pain that I was keeping numb with this habit, I had forgotten them! I began abusing roughly 6-7 months ago, nothing but excuses, the original pain started 2 years ago when I was prescribed the meds. Ex started taking my pills, became abusive, so I started taking more so he would take less (stupid, I know) and I began using them and my Klonopin as a way to numb everything from physical pain to emotional pain. Ex is now gone, I have 4 kids, full time (manual labor) job and am very ready, very aware of my problem and know it's time to quit. Back to tapering after the first relapse and I'm wondering about how long the aches and pains that came back ten fold might last?

The advice you got here is good.  Your pain receptors are on overdrive because they were suppressed for so long.  For a week to a few weeks you will feel pain when there may actually be no reason for it.

Tapering does help. I don't wake up with a mind bendingly horrid headache that makes me reach for the pills first thing. Haven't had one yet this morning, only my vitamins, gonna go to work and pray the pain can at least wait a few hours. Dear friend helping with taper has given me 11.25 mgs for the day. Wish me luck!

yep you can! it takes about 5 days for the worst of the withdrawals to be done and your body's natural endorphins to kick in again. Make sure you eat properly as good food wil help even if you don't have much of an appetite.Magnesium might help with the aches and pains-I use a magnesium oil spray half an hour before bed.

Every little ache and pain you have will be magnified by 100 for awhile. The opiates block ALL pain,so when them receptors start to work again they're in over time. You're still early into this so everything will hurt for awhile. You won't know the actual pain you have for a month maybe a bit more.

True, the pain from withdrawals is far worse than the physical pains from working. Just seems that they've come back, worse than they were when the meds were prescribed to me!! I feel like such a baby. Lol. I'm only 32...

I have been off opiates since march 2012, went back to alcoholic drinking in june -july 2012 (as soon as i finally felt better from w/d ) there was a lot goin on with my life , relocation , starting over etc, had some pain but drinking covered it up, well got felony Dui in new state, and went to prison treatment center, it changed my life, didn't feel much pain but was sitting in groups and classes 12 - 14 hours a day , some back issues but nothin major, well i have been out a year and have been clean & sober and working early mornimg shift lots of hours (bakery) i hurt so much, my knees especially left one my ankle where i have metal from prev. injury, somehow i have developed tennis elbow, that is one of the worst things i have dealt with it affects my hand so bad had to get bigger wedding ring from the swelling, i have found at 48  and what i put my body thru when i was young i have alot of aches and pains, and living here wear its -10 out alot dont help!
what i have done to deal with the pain everyday, i take one ibuprofen 200 mg. and 1 500 mg. Tylenol together only when pain gets intense, never more than once in day if i can help it, and not every day, i worry about liver as ive had high enzymes from drinking, i take multi vitamin , and 1000 mcg. b-12 sub lingual as methylcobalamine  when i need energy and try not to eat alot of sugar and processed food, , fruits and vegetables and leafy greens are good, as is fish, nuts black , and garbanzo beans for protein , i really think diet plays a huge role because when i was in the treatment program i cut out all food except what was essential and felt Great! of corse when i got out i slipped up a lot on eating whatever i wanted.
i bought mcdavid braces for knee , and arm, they help so much at work, there light weight and comfortable (u get what u pay for i got them online and they aren't cheap) i just bought a copper magnet bracelet and it seems to really help with arm pain although havent decided if it is psychosomatic or not. I have heard good things about omega oils(fish oil) for joint pain but haven't tried it yet , so much of this stuff for pain is snake oil and just to make $ so i spend alot of time researching.
i live with the pain because know opiate addiction will kill me and will cause more pain through hyperalgesia, anyway. and i love being free through recovery.

Or if anyone knows a way to alleviate the pain (without the pills obviously) especially while I'm at work? Currently working 59 hours a week and come home to 4 kids. Hot baths sounds wondrous, but nearly impossible for me. Lol
