Thinking clearer

I want to share a story with all of you that happened last year and I am going to blame it on the drugs.  So, this year being clean for a couple months I shouldn’t make the same mistake. For the sake of this story I will say my wife’s name is Sally, not her real name.

Being a typical male that has been married for a long, long, long time I waited to buy my wife a card for Valentine’s Day. The night before Valentine’s Day, when I actually thought about it, it was snowing and I didn’t want to go out. So being the internet savvy person I am, I went to one of the major greeting card company’s website and bought a subscription. Found a nice looking card with hearts on it and came up with some nice words of my very own for the inside. I printed the card, signed it with love, and put it in the cupboard for the next morning to surprise my wonderful wife. The next morning I made sure that I was still home when she came downstairs and gave her the card thinking that she’d be happy and I’d get a kiss. She opened it looked at the front of the card and with rage on her face she screamed, LINDA, WHO IS LINDA. The card people had the audacity to put made up names in their sayings on the front of the cards!!! See maybe it is because I am a guy and don’t pay attention to the small details sometimes, well most of the time, but I am saying that it was because of the meds that I was taking at that time it slipped by me. This year I am sharp and on the ball and it won’t happen again, nope, this year I bought her a new vacuum sweeper!!!!! OK, maybe I’ll be very careful and make her a card with her name on it too.

OMG that story is funny but sad at the same time. I just posted today about memory loss from opiates, and now you point out loss of attention to detail. Thank gawd we decided to stop, eh? Congrats on being sober and thanks for the story. I hope Linda, I mean Sally, has a better Valentines Day this year :P

Hey man!  Don't you know better than to give a woman an appliance for Valentine's Day?  Surely it may be needed, but come on.  Get some flowers, then give her the vacuum.

I got her diamonds and cruise for Christmas. Can't spoil her too much. Besides everytime I get her flowers she thinks I only want sex. OK, Maybe I'll buy flowers too

after last year, you had better at least add some flowers or chocolate to that vaccumn.  otherwise she'll think the only reason you want her around is to do your housework, to feed you and most of all for the sex!!!

Hummmmm.... I hope that she knows that I love her beautiful eyes, gorgeous hair, the fact that she gave me two wonderful boys and has been my best friend for almost 30 years. However, if ask her, she would probably agree with you on why I want her around. After all I do like to be fed.

Well, it's not red, but is is a cool shade of blue. I guess sort of like of the roses are red violets are blue.......type..  Ok gals what else can I do for her? What would rock your world if your husband wanted to surprise you?

Day at the spa.  Hair , nails, massage, facial.    But I would be happy with the Dyson too. lol

Here's what I am thinking, buy her a dozen roses and take them to her at work, just before lunch and then take her out to lunch.  She will think that is it, but instead head home and do my best, remember I'm a guy, at straightening up the house. Make dinner, (a strong point, remember I like to eat), after dinner sit her down in her recliner with a nice glass of wine while I clean up the dining room and kitchen. Watch a little TV together and then give her a good massage before heading up to go to sleep.  (I bought a massage table a little while back and have been working on learning how to give a good massage).  Too much or not enough? Right now she thinks that all she is getting is the Dyson.

What a wife I have!!!! I just got back to my office, from a meeting, and had a package from FedEx waiting, when I opened it there were a dozen long stemmed cookies sent by my wife. Wow, what a woman, I am so happy that she loves me and is MY wife.

I have recently found that treating her like my Queen, no matter what, makes me her Knight in shining armor. It only took me 27 years to learn this lesson.

Yep, and she learned that treating me like her Knight in shining armor makes me WANT to treat her like my Queen. It's a vicious cycle and I’m loving it. (I think she is too!!!)
