This forum has helped!

by lady67, Jun 18, 2008 08:20AM
This forum has helped with my pill addiction, now let's see if it can help with my weight problem.  Due to the sleep eating I was doing while on the Ambien, I gained WAAAAYYYY too much weight and I really want to get it off.  Now that I am drug free and doing so well, I hope I can change this part of my life as well.  It isn't going to be easy because I am such a "Dr. Pepper" addict.  I have to have one in my hand all the time.  Guess that is better than a pill or cigarette, but it doesn't help my huge waistline. Oh well, I was just putting some feelings out there.

Have a Great Day friends

I'd like to quit smoking but don't know how or where to start. I'd rather have the weight then the pill habit.

Yeah Lady, you have to give up the Dr. Pepper to help lose the weight. Even diet drinks keep the weight on you. I'm a bit of a diet and exercise nut. When I gave up the soft drinks I lost 12 pounds in a month. They are pure sugar. Now, I drink a gallon of water a day and other than a few adult drinks that's it, just water. I use to hate water, it was the hardest thing for me to get in the habit of doing but I found a few tricks that helped me and now it's easy.
That Ambien is horrible stuff, I used it for several months during my w/d from lortabs and it really set me back. I think I may have something posted about ambien in my journal. There is good website about ambien and w/d from it in there too.

My daughter and wife walk daily and just stay very active and it seems to help them take some of their weight off, although I do not believe either of them to be overly heavy.

My wife is nearly 5'8" tall and weighs 140 and my daughter is 5'2" tall and weighs about 130. Me on the other hand may be a little overweight I am just under 6'5" tall and weigh around 270-280.

It seems as though excersise is the key along with diet. I do not eat a lot of sweets as I am diabetic so I really watch what I eat and I am very active since I move and haul steel all day long still I weigh more than I should.

Yeah, I am going to have to get active and drop the sodas.  I don't know if I can stand just the water though.  I don't do water.  My mother used to tell me that I thought water was just for bathing.  I do want to get back to my pre-ambien/lortab weight.  I know I will have major headaches from the loss of caffine.  I don't drink coffee so that is the only pick-me- up I get.  But I kicked this pill thing in the @$$ so I am going to do the other as well.  I have added the weight tracker to MY medhelp page so maybe I can get a grip on this.

See you guys when I get back from shopping.  I am taking both the girls with me, so I KNOW I will get the exercise today.

~Peace

i've heard some bad stuff about that ambien too. i don't think they should keep it on the market. i can tell you this about it though: my husband's brother tried to commit suicide by injecting insulin and he now had brain damage. his friend found him in time. anyway, he took too many ambien one night and low and behold he started talking pretty good for a time. once the medicine was out of his system, he went back to only saying a few words at a time. he can comprehend what you say, but he cannot respond like normal. anyway, i think they are doing trials on how the ambien effects people with brain damage. good luck with loosing weight, i know how hard it is!!!!

lady, I am addicted to Dr. Pepper too. It is soooooo good though!!
I would not mind losing some "pounds" as my son says, LOL, but I am not sure if I can drop the Dr. Pepper just to drop the pounds........

I used to be a dr. ****** junkie too.  Now I am a diet coke junkie.  I mean, 3-4 liters a day !!  I have cut back, but it is hard.  I stopped for a few days and felt so much better.  I am alternating between Iced tea and soda.....hoping to eventually elimiate the sodas all together.......I get a pretty good burst of energy from the tea, so I'm doing it......slowly but surely.  That much soda is really bad for you.  I try to think about the dropping of the raw hamburger into the coke and it demolishes it.......scary, but its a caffeine addiction.

Mine is Diet A&W root beer. I drink a ton of it.

by Mikeinthesouth, Jun 18, 2008 04:01PM
I am a diet coke addict and have been forever. You'd be surprised at the amount of weight you would drop at just that lil change from regular sugar loaded to diet sodas.......

by ladyboop, Jun 18, 2008 04:16PM
If it is just from the pills, and has not been something you have battled your hole life. It will come off pretty easy. I gained 22lbs when my dad died. I was eating pills sleeping, oh and living on Chesse Cake!! When I got clean, and started doing stuff it came off. Took a few months. But it is gone.

Hang in there!!!

I almost slept thru the night (awoke only once, went to the fridge and it was empty...)
and upon awaking (6.5 Hours sleep, yes!)
and I felt thinner!!!

There-in lies my secret to weight loss! Sleep thru the night (or keep the fridge empty).

LOL!
If it was only that easy!
