This is the best site I've ever accidentally found!!

I've been addicted to opiates for 6 solid years without a break. Started about 20mg of hydrocodone a day and jumped to about 100mg before I learned SOME sense of control. Long story short I'm tired of the life. Years go by so quickly and I don't have anything to show except a very expensive habit that I worked to support. Not to mention the things my family has done without bc of my addiction. I had so many things to ask/say until I started typing and of course I can't remember any of them but 1. Is it better to try sticking it out cold turkey or try the sub medicine? Thank you for any responses and hope I can get past this ridiculous routine I've been stuck in so long. :)

I had tried the Vyvance before when I was coming clean but it is definitely not a good idea.  I was just taking anything and it just showed my fear of getting clean and that fear is understandable but you have to face it.  You have to believe you can do this because you can.  You are just starting your recovery and yes there are people on here with years of sobriety but the most important and enlightening day is the day that, like you said, that we became tired of our lives.  It can also be worded like this:  We admitted we were powerless over our addiction - that our lives had become unmanageable.
With that being said you have started your recovery and your mind will constantly be thinking of ways to recover (The Law of Attraction) when it is not thinking of ways to use.  Start looking in the right places to find the right answers.

Do you have any holidays left?  It would be great if you could take a week off and just do it.

I kind of binged on vyvance Friday-Saturday morning for whatever dumb reason. Didn't take it yesterday to see if I could do it and the pressure of all I had to get done on Monday at work talked me into one today but it hasn't had any amph effects. Probably due to the binge. I think I'm going to try the Thomas recipe minus the benzo's if I can make it to a suitable day to be off work. That's my plan ATM anyway lol

I don't have a doctor. None would want to deal with this mess anyway I don't think. Too much of a liability. I don't have enough of the hydro's left that I know are good ones to do a real taper. I've been tapering for a few days so far and the vyvance had helped with the no energy/focusing to keep working aspect while the small amounts if hydro curbed the shakes. Seemed like a good idea at the time

Have you stopped the vyvanse?  That stuff can really make you feel out of it.  Stop it and then begin your taper or you can just go cold turkey.
Do you have any other health issues?  Is it possible to get your doctor on board?

I started taking the vyvance in desperation before I realized how junky I'm acting. I had been taking it for a few days prior to the strange feeling from the new hydro's and had not taken it that day. I just needed something as we all think we do I guess lol. Pathetic I know. Maybe I'm just losing touch with reality but none of the pills I've been taking feel right. Everything seems spaced out and anxious. This is hell no doubt.

Why are you taking the vyvanse?  It is probably the vyvanse that are making you feel that way.
It's an amphetamine and you should talk taking it immediately unless it's prescribed by your doctor.

Just continue with a slow taper of the hydro's.  For a taper to actually work well, you should reduce your intake slowly over a number of days.  You should feel comfortable before you decrease your dose again.
Good luck and keep posting.

I have a question because I'm tapering for the big day so I can plan my leave of absence from work. I got some hydro's from a new source a few days ago and instead of the relief I normally get they made me feel very hot and anxious/shaky. I've been taking vyvance last few days also. Could they be fake? Is this a known problem?

Congratulations on taking your life back! I would not go on subs they are much harder to get off. I went cold turkey because I could not do a taper if they were around I would take them. Have you looked up the Thomas recipe? I would try to get everything except the benzos. How are you doing? So glad you found mh this site is filled with amazing supportive people! :)

Thank you. It kind of makes me feel better to think CT would work bc I don't want to trade one need for another. Really I just want to live a legal and healthy life so if it involves some help, I'm not above it at all. I read about some people being at 30 days all the way to 25 years. Congrats to u guys. I'm still counting hours but hopefully catch up to y'all soon:)

Hi and welcome
I'm a young pup on here but I'm sure some of the old timers will be commenting shortly .
I tried CT & that didn't work for me but works great for others.
I just started a taper plan with my DR. And gave been sticking to it and going well.
I think the people that have legitimate pain do better with a taper (so my Dr says) however everyone is different.
I know what it's like to finally say things have gotten out of control and I commend you for that. It's a scary spot.
Stick around and listen to most (but not all) of what people have to say.
