Tips/Advice For Coming Off Vicodin For Good...Please Help! Thanks!

by rlilly04, Sep 22, 2009 02:03PM
Im looking for advice/tips for coming off vicodin. I had back surgery in Feb 09 and Aug 09, I blew my L5 disc out in novemeber 08 at work. I have been taking vicodin since then. At times post surgery I was taking oxycotin and percocets for probably total of 3 months.

Im feeling really good pain wise now and Im ready to stop my addiction. Im ready to flush the pills! Just looking for any advice that will help me get through the process. I tried once before but only made it two days, had to much going on to continue. But I now have time freed up for the detox process.

Im needing about 6 vicodin a day to function properly just an fyi.

Thanks looking foward to any advice or tips! Wanting to flush and get started today please help!

It so good your ready to flush those pills, we love reading about a good flushing here, lol. For most the worst of the physical w/d's last 4-6 days, but everyone is different. Look in the top right of this page under health pages. In there you will find the thomas recipe which can help ease w/ds' a lil bit. I have used melatonin for sleep, it worked for me. Just wanted to wish you luck. You will get a lot of support and good advice here. You can do this:)

Thank you very much for the advice!! Appreciate it!! Flushing the pills very soon!! Im ready to feel better!

Dont even try detox until those pills are flushed. If you have a doctor there are things that they can give you to make things less severe. The lack of sleep is the worst, atleast it was for me. Your doc can give you something for that. Use your hot tub if you have one and hylands restful legs. Just make sure you are mentally prepared for this and take one day at a time. Dont try to look to far ahead or you will start with the anxiety. The thomas recipe will show you the rite vitamins and such to use. Congrats on your decision. Its the rite one to make.

I have been on hydros for about two years and was just ready to give them up. I have now been 5 days without a hydro although I did have a guy give me a couple of methadones to ease the withdrawals. It has been tough these last couple of days without anything.  How much longer will these bad withdrawals last?

Thanks! Closing In on 48 hours, not so bad early afternoon here. But I just woke up and hour ago. Last night was very long and rough, A Dr prescribed ambien that I have had since I had my operations didn't even help with the restlessness I was experiencing. I will keep everything updated as time passes. Thanks for the support keep it up please! It drives me!!

Thanks

Keep hanging in there. I dont recommend taking any sleep aids until atleast the 3rd nite. It just makes you awake and groggy. Then the nite just seems to last longer. Get sleep whenever you can. Dont wait till nite time if you have a chance to sleep some during the day. Just another couple of days and you will be feeling so much better. Also get out of the house and take a walk or just sit out in the sun. Try to stay active if possable. I no its hard to when you just dont want to move but it does help. Stay hydrated and just stay tough.

Been over 3 full days now, still feeling pretty crappy. Pushing myself through, keeping busy, today I have added vitamins to my diet. Wish I had done that a few days ago, but better now than never.

Have one question I have had to operations on my back in the L5 area. Im getting a feeling in my left foot big toe that feels like a needle being forced in. Is this a w/d pain or a surgery pain any ideas?

Wow it has been almost 5 Days clean now!! Feeling better! Still feel pretty drained but I think my energy is coming back slowly.

Have a question maybe someone can help me with........My blood pressure seems to be pretty high, is this something to worry about? Its a result of the detox I believe, well at least that's what I have read on other post. I go to see the back surgeon tomorrow and I figured I would let him know. He will be very happy that I'm off the painkillers. And hopefully he thinks I'm ready to go back to work for the first time in almost a year.

Thanks!
