Sorry to hear about your grandpa - I've seen this happen a lot with the elderly.  The anesthesia wears off but it can take a long time for them to recover mentally - especially if he is getting any type of opiates or sedatives for he confusion.  However, it has been a while and I would think that after about 72-96 hours they would consider doing a CT scan to see if there has been any damage.  What was his mental status like before the surgery?  Hopefully he'll begin to clear soon.  Let me know if you have other questions - you and your grandpa will be in my thoughts.  shari

I am a69 year old woman and had surgery for prolapse in December.
I am due to have surgery on my foot next Wednesday (3 weeks after firstsurgery).
I feel fine now.
Is it safe to have general anesthetic so close together?
Hope you can answer this in time.
Thanks
Esther
