Today is my Day 1 - Need Support

The amount of mg that I have taken per day has kinda been all over the place.  I had surgery in March.  That would make this 6 months of use of various pain meds.  I would say that my daily use would be around the 40mg to 50 mg per day of oxycodone and just recently Norco for the past week.  Most of the use has been oxycodone 10mg pills.

I looked at the Thomas Recipe but I am not sure if I need to go out and buy more of that as I have a lot of different over the counter meds here already.  I am on a low carb diet and have lots of protein shakes.

When do I start counting the hours?  I took my last 5mg Norco pill at 9:30 am.

What is your best guess on how my w/ds will be?  I know everyone is different.  Is my use considered high (the number of mg?)  Thank you everyone!!!!

Oh yes, taking pain killers for mental or emotional pain is the first stages of addiction. Luckily, you are early in the game. I encourage you to start looking for new ways to cope with those feelings that led to 'grabbing a couple extra.' For those of us who used for years and years, it is hard to remember how to grin and bear it or go for a jog to relieve stress. The addiction trap slowly takes away our ability to deal with anything sober. Addiction is progressive, so the sooner one quits the better. You might try an NA meeting to see what you are missing out on, the downward spiral into he**. I really encourage you to study the pleasure pathways of the brain and addiction. Equip yourself with tools and knowledge, so your mind doesn't play tricks on you to persuade you the addiction is gone. We pick up as if we never stopped using, once we go back on drugs, even for legit reasons. Knowledge is power, so you have a great opportunity to never experience what the next stages of addiction are.

I think the fear is going to be the worst part of it for you.  You may have mild flu like symptoms but I'm thinking it will be very tolerable.
If I stopped taking pills at first,  I didn't even realize I was going through withdrawal.  It all makes sense now but I didn't realize I was addicted at the time or that I had to go through withdrawal.
Let us know your symptoms as you go through them but right now the fear is much worse than what will happen.
Hopefully this is the only time for you because it does get worse.

Thanks for replying.  I used for legit reasons in the beginning but I did notice I would reach for a pill when I became upset about something.  My use was all over because in the beginning it was very controlled but became random towards the end.  I am drinking a lot of flavored water. I just took a nap for an hour.  Don't feel anything else but a little tired right now.  I have had 10mg in the past 24 hours.  I am only 8 hours without.  My usual 24 hour usage has been 50mg for the past several weeks.

Think of it like the flu, similar symptoms and time frame. If you get to know more of us, you will meet many who wish they had gotten off as fast as 6 months. Opiate detox cannot kill a healthy person, even at high doses, so try to relax and keep moving. If your diet is good and you get all the electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids you need, then you should be fine. EmergenC helped me drink more and it is a great powdered drink full of what we need to stay hydrated and heal. If you have any specific symptoms that really are bad, we can tell you what might help with that. Take walks throughout the day, swim or bike, do anything to pass time and get your heart rate up a little. Hang in there and it will pass. Do you think you are an addict or are you physically dependent? You used for legit reasons, but said your dose was all over the place, so I am curious if you think you are an addict.

You're gonna be just fine.  The best thing to do is not count the hours and try not to anticipate.  Your use was not very high, nor was it long.  Just stay hydrated and keep yourself busy.  Surrender to the process and it will be over before you know it.
Congratulations on stopping this before it gets out of control.  It only gets worse and there are so many on here who will read your post and wish they'd done the same!!!
Drink lots of water, eat small amounts.  Baths with epsom salts and bananas are your best friends.  Watch lots of good movies and TV and move around as much as possible during the day so you rest easier at night.
It really is just like the flu.  So treat yourself with kindness and you'll be just fine.
Keep posting....

Just be strong willed my friend. It's diff for everyone but your addiction wasn't very high or very long so I'm thinking it will be a lil less severe.
