Toothache leads to withdrawl

I visited the dentist on Wednesday complaining of pain and discovered that I had a cracked root (of my tooth).

I was prescribed vicoden extra-strength and took it every four hours as prescribed.

I woke up this morning having slept late and not having taken any meds for over 12 hours. I ate breakfast right away and immediaty vomitted. I have been bed-ridden with nausea, a monster headache, and tooth pain. No meds since yesterday.

What is going on?  I do not want to take any more vicoden until I understand what it's doing to my body-  help, please.

What an amazing place!
Thank you all very much for being so helpful.

I stopped the pain medication and the sickness went away. I was very scared- I was genuinely worried my body was going into some sort of withdrawl.

I see the surgeon Tuesday- hopefully all goes well.

I dont know how long you have been taking this, but just a little info for everyone  It is a proven fact that it only takes seven days of taking opiates for your body to become physically addicted.  Just letting yall know

I actually have 3 friends who can't take Vicodin ES because it makes them sick.  Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, etc.  So I'd agree - the medication probably doesn't agree with you.

Might be a good idea to call your dentist's office and let them know what's happening.  Maybe he / she can prescribe something else that will be easier on your belly.  Vicoprofen, for example, has hydrocodone with ibuprofen instead of the acetaminophen.  But he's the doc so he'll know better than me lol.  Hope you feel better soon!

it's the side effects of this drug not addiction. It has a ton of liver killing and gut cramping tylenol plys hydrocodone isn't that strong, but like codeine has a bad effect on the stomach. all the best

I have taken it before. It just seems like I took so much yesterday. Literally, 6 tablets.

No fever. I go to see the oral surgeon on Tuesday. I am in pain, but nervous to take any more medication.

Thanks, Vicki.

I doubt it's any kind of withdrawal all ready. But,we're all different.  Have you taken vicdin before?  What treatment did you get for your tooth?  Do you have a fever?

It may not be related at all. Keep posting.
