Tramadol Addiction

by jennie71, Feb 20, 2008 05:27PM
I have been taking 400mg daily for about 2 years now.  I am now at the point where I need to take some other medications for other problems.  I am trying to wean myself off of Tram a little at a time but, having an extreamly hard time.  I get heavy arms, night sweats, flu like symptoms, really bad headaches & many other symptoms.  I am unable to take care of my 18mth old and my 3 year old unless I break down and just take the pills.  I do not have any help with the kids and cannot afford to go to rehab to withdraw.  Does anyone have any advice on what to do to ease it more?  I really want to get off Tram so I can start the other meds safely.  I am at my wits end!  Any help will be appreciated!

It sounds like you are tapering too fast. Our expert with trams is with gallstones I will send her a PM. She may still be able to help you with a taper that will work.

What meds are you plannig to begin taking?

Have you spoken to your doctor?  Not that they ALWAYS have the answer...some are great at writing the rx's but that's about it.  But hopefully, you can approach him/her and they can help?!  Maybe they can not only help with tapering but also with something to help with the side affects and withdrawls.  Good luck hon....we're all here for support.

Ok so I first started this post in Feb and things haven't changed a bit.  I keep trying to stop by tapering but, as soon as I get down to 50mg 4x day if I take one of those away, I slip into painful withdrawels like no other!  I am at the end of my rope!  If there is anyone out there that has been through this...PLEASE HELP!!!

Jennie,
I know it is really hard but you can do this .Tapering Is by far the easiest way to come off of it buts it is still really hard. If you ever need to talk PM me I have been where you are.It might help once you get down to four to only go down by halfs at that point how long have you been at 4.
