Tramadol Withdrawal

Hello,

I have posted on a couple walls and figures I better start my own thread. My names is Brian and I need a forum for my tramadol addiction. I have taken tramadol for 4 years now and I have finally decided it's time to move on. I am slowly trying to kick it. I'm about four days in (since I made the decision) and I am down to taking 2 to 3 a day (up from about 8 to 10 a day).

I'm starting to get jitters and I am having difficulty trying to focus. I also feel like my head is spinning. I'm really looking for a community of people that can help me get through this.

I would appreciate any support. Thanks!

Alright, I found it. I made a post on there. That will be great to see people who have struggled with the same exact issue I have. Thanks again!

FourJays I have found to be our authority almost on tramadol...lol she's great.

I have battled it as well, been in the emergency room for it, and then STILL took it! I know the innocence of the drug...and then it just devours you...

My doctor totally tricked me, I felt when she prescribed me this for my lower back pain.

I'm clean off vikes so far.I want to say kudos to you for trying to make your life better :)))You need all support you can get and here is the place :)))

Peace~Karen

The link that VIC posted above is "room
58". If you click on "journal entries" at the top next to Emily Post's name it will bring you to the other "rooms" or threads. When a thread gets really long Emily starts a new one....so there are 58 threads so far....just in case you wanted to go back and read other stories

Well, excuse my ignorance, but I'm looking and cannot figure out how to find "Room 58." Is that different from general forum posts?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one in this. I know we can both do it. No more relapse for us. It's really helping to know that people around here care.

I'll check out Room 58, as well.

Good luck Brian. I am currently tapering tramadol as well. It sounds like your taper will be short but you've found a great place here for support while you are going through any rough times. Please keep posting! Emily's journals has tons of stories of how people have handled w/ds and the like.  If you go to that link to "room 58" you can access her other journals by clicking up on journals next to Emily's name at the top of the screen. You can pick any of the 58 threads for a TON of insight.

Thank you so much for the welcome. I know I can do this, and I finally realize I have to. I'm sure it's been said a thousand times before, but this is the end of the line for my addiction.

FourJays, I would so much appreciate the help. I got the pills from a "friend." (ha, I suppose that's a little anticlamactic). It will be interesting to see how these next few days ago. As I am running low on pills (about 20 left) soon I will no longer be able to taper. Which, I suppose, is the ulitmate goal anyways.

I would appreciate the support so much.

Hi and welcome!  Congrats on making the best decision of your life to get off the Tramadol!  I struggled with addiction to this medication for 15 years and very high doses.  It is great that you are tapering down your dose.  The symptoms you are feeling are totally normal.  If you check out the 'Thomas Recipe' (link at the bottom of this page) as well as the Amino Acid Protocol you will find some great suggestions of remedies that can really help ease these symptoms.  Have you been getting the tramadol from your doctor; and is he/she aware you are tapering off?  I did a c/t quit as I just was not able to taper.  I can offer you some suggestions of things that helped me though the detox days (once you jump off completely).  Tapering should help to decrease the intensity of the symptoms quite a bit; very smart decision on your part!  Keep posting with your progress and if you want send me a message any time OK?  Hang in there...you CAN do this :))

Hi! Me again! I don't have any personal experience with tramadol. I am 25 days free from vicodin. I just wanted to congratulate you on cutting down your pill intake and making the decision to quit. The anxious, jittery feeling is very common and unfortunately can hang around for a while after you quit. For me listening to music and watching funny movies helped a lot. Also just being on this site and reading other people's stories was helpful. There are a lot of people on here who have been through what you are experiencing right now. Just hang tight and I'm sure someone who has experienced tramadol withdrawls will come along. Hang in there and take care of yourself!
