Tramadol helping me stop the lorcets, but is it helping?

I've been abusing lorcets for about 3-4 years now.I averaged about 4 lorcets/day (Not every day either) but i've tapered off to 1 lorcet per day until someone recommended me tramadol to help out. When i tapered off to 0 lorcets i began taking 50mg of tramadol/day and i've now tapered that off to 25mg a day (half a pill). I'm feeling rather great. The tramadol isn't nearly as good as the lorcets, yet physically i feel like I should be.Since i've been on the tramadol i've stopped drinking and smoking, and becoming more productive. My two questions are 1.) Is tramadol time released, because i'm afraid with me breaking it in half i'm getting more than i should. 2.) Is this really gonna ease the goal of quitting everything?

Well thanx everyone, esp. avisg. I'm gonna give this a 100% and get through this. I will consider the NA if i end up going back to old habits and have to start the whole process over. I finally realize that its a problem, and I have cut back tremendously. Just a few more hurtles to go I guess.

I've considered NA, but don't really know much about it. I worry about it not being discreet (like showing up on medical records or risking employment opportunities) I also worry about costs involved because I am a college student

well thanks avisg, that was the answer that i needed i guess. I ran across these message boards the other day and was impressed on whats going on here.  My addiction is somewhat of a personal little demon in the closet that no one knows about. It's great to jus talk honestly about it without the world looking at you like a dopehead. I'm young (25) in good health, and tired of living my day around a substance. I'm glad you told me withdrawing from Tramadol is worse than my previous situation. So with me not taking tramadol for a week, is it gonna pose any other problems I haven't faced before with previous hydrocodone withdrawals?

Well, my main goal is to stop everything, it's just making me feel alot better taking half a pill a day compared to the 2-4 doses of hydrocodone. Starting next week (when i'm done with finals and hopefully graduating college) i want to start my life fresh without any help from pills. So starting next thursday, I will be stopping the tramadol and see where it goes from there. I realize that I'm replacing one addiction for another at the moment, but I feel more "alive" right now with the tramadol (Eating healthyand regular bowel moments for a change, along with the smoking and drinking) I also realize that I have a mental addiction, but I figure i have to tackle the physical addiction first. Does any one have any pointers on conquering mental addiction?

Hi!

Tramadol is not time-released, unless it is the Tramadol ER, or Ultram (extended release). Tramadel is addicting and you just may be replacing one pill for the other.

It is of course easing the withdrawal because it is a narcotic like substance.

If you want to be drug free..you need to get off ALL pills.
